Reference usage in the case you're describing between Spiderman and Venom is used for worldbuilding purposes. That little voiceline introduces people to the background of those two who might not be aware of it. I'd say it does a good job of presenting an unlikely alliance between two people who weren't allies in the past (which some people, i.e. casual gamers, might not know about).

don't play him as a dive.
Play him as a off angle hero. You will get a lot of success just from being off angle.
The enemies can't ignore you because your damage is enough to kill them.
Nobody can stop you because you are the king of 1v1.
If they are distracted and have to split their focus to you & your team, you have already achieved your goal.
If your team managed to kill 1 or 2 person, then it's time to dive in and focus on all the squishies.

I had my worst rank game ever last night. I finished 8-7 with these two black guys who were duo flaming me. I was iron fist and legit couldn't do anything because of a god tier magneto doing some of the best peeling ever. I was still getting their backline to stop healing mag and focus on peeling for themselves and the dps would also focus me, but they didn't seem to acknowledge this at all and just kept bringing up my K/D. I won us a couple of fights, but by the end they had just given up and were basically sitting in spawn waiting for the game to end cuz the surrender failed. I'm still pretty upset about it and have been considering switching to a DPS (or even tank like cap) who can carry much better.

I can help you. I recently climbed to plat 2 and have only played the game for a month. What time do you play? It's best to play diving DPS and just kill the healers. Basically insta win since no one will peel for them in this elo. Hit quick match, practice range, and practice vs AI with diver(BP, Iron Fist, Spider man, magik(if you like brawler divers like her).

Practice a diver in quick match for 20+ hours, you will hit plat easily with that hero after that. It's hard to learn from competitive mode because you are so worried about losing. Also, look up a guide for whatever diver you choose and even a top *insert diver* player on YT. Take notes as well. Have fun!

I never felt the need to really just leave the match in any other video game, but these matches on rivals and because of these people, I believe I should be actually pressing alt f4 because they really are just there to ruin games and they deserve it.
EOMM or not this never happened with this scale in League of Legends because these people in rivals are griefing on a level that in League would be just staying afk on the base without every going to the lane or simply just roaming around the map without playing the game.

This new klyntar map I was playing storm and I was so low that I had to stay behind some piece of shitty terrain spamming a support to heal me and I couldn't move at all because I would leave cover and die, I really am just at the mercy of my support to come to me in the field of vision to heal. Regardless of if the game has EOMM, the matchmaking is still possibly the worst of any online game. How often do you have matches in comp that actually feel evenly matched? Personally its about 10%-20%. Most games feel inevitable from the first interaction. I skipped most of last season because i was burnt out on how awful the games felt. It doesnt matter if i have a 65%-70% win rate in comp. Stomping the opponent is only slightly more fun than getting stomped

This alone makes all the difference in how they play.
Mantis also retains her speed while attacking and her healing comes from a resource that she gains from headshotting enemies, even if similar at a glance they are worlds apart.
