The last time I had full confidence and felt like the game was living up to its potential would have been Witch Queen and Y5 up until the reveal of Lightfall which raised some alarm bells, and then my faith was heavily fractured by Lightfall itself which was far worse than I expected it to be and basically destroyed the hype around anything going forward. Final shape was alright, but the massive July layoffs that year basically confirmed that the game was absolutely doomed and I’ve been heavily checked out ever since and I don’t plan on buying EoF at all.

Rise of Iron. Bungie had gone through the ringer with Destiny 1 and RoI was a nice last expansion and send off. I was hopeful that they learned quite a bit and would use that knowledge and experience by making Destiny 2 what D1 should have been and what we were promised from the beginning.

Totally, the entire design philosophy for the game was just fucked at that time. The entire focus was the casual crowd that was not looking to dump 100's hours into the game. It felt like a completely sterile and gutted D1, I still can't believe that they thought 1 static roll for each gun was a good idea.

I've been sticking with Dawn Chorus using the Paragon armor stat. You get super primarily, then melee, and then you'll wanna keep armor that drops with weapons which will typically have 8 or 10 on it at least for me.
One warlock build I really want to experiment with is Felwinters due to the buff it got + I'm pretty sure it works with Song of Flame so combine that with the new super stat.. it could be cool.

Late reply, but whatever. Warframe is ass on low-performing/last gen consoles, which negatively impacts the gameplay for the whole fireteam.

Explanation:

>there is a high-difficulty mode called Steel Path which has additional rewards but cranks up all enemy stats/damage and sets enemy spawns to the maximum value regardless of the fireteam size.
>the game features a p2p system, where one player hosts the mission, and the rest are connected to that player.
>if a last gen/weak console player is the host, the game severely reduces enemy spawn counts, even in Steel Path missions.

This sometimes leads to unpleasant situations where the mission objjective requires you to kill lots of enemies to make them drop objective-related items, fewer enemies means fewer drops to the point missions take longer to progress, or, in case of Void Relic missions, preventing you from ganing the Void Relic rewards (sought-after prime Warframe and weapon parts) because there wasn't enough enemies to get corrupted by Void energies so you can't beat enough Void Reactant out of them to open the Relic.

tl;dr: crossplay and past-gen consoles are cancer everywhere, including Warframe

Solar Warlock is INSANE right now, can't go wrong with Starfire Protocol or Sunbracers. If you want to be a tank, just use red death but there are so many other options for healing and I just stick with sunshot. Pre Destiny 2 release. Then the game came out and the gameplay was horrendous. 4v4 pvp, paid shaders, all special weapons being heavy weapons. It was awful and I checked out after 2 weeks. I played D2 at various points throughout but didn’t officially return until Plunder, and while the narrative was a complete mess I found the gameplay especially fun. Running HOIL storm grenade build on GM Fallen Sabre and soloing Grasp of Avarice with bonk hammer and double special was dopamine of the highest order. Unfortunately it was further and further downhill after that. Strand while fun wasn’t enough to make the experience a net positive and I quit a a month and a half after Lightfall. By the time TFS came out the gameplay was a far cry from where it was in Plunder. Me and my entire group quit after finishing SE. The game is just awful.

Right before Lightfall's trailer dropped. Or, rather, I felt like there was hope up to the point I saw the trailer, and the public's reaction to it. Witch Queen was a marked improvement in the PvE sandbox from what the game had been since the shittening of classes, at least, and I thought maybe we'd be at a place going forward where the game could be fun to dick around in with some cool raids/dungeons. The seasons were disappointing, but the core gameplay was in a good spot. We finally started to have at least a LITTLE bit of content in the game after Beyond Light dryfucked it six ways to Sunday, too.
Then I saw the trailer and realized the tone of the game was only going to get worse, and even major expacs were getting to the point of "shoehorned major pop culture reference to cast the widest-yet-shallowest net possible" levels of degradation. The final cherry on top of the shit-cake was when they announced during Seraph they were going to make ALL the armor mods available because they were going to completely revamp (read: neuter) the systems to """improve""" them going forward, I knew it was over and there was no fucking way in hell anything was ever going to get better ever again.

We are in a very odd stupid period for this game in regards to these recent changes where you now essentially have a generation that could theoretically been raised on Destiny, they have no understanding or digestion of what a normal RPG, and MMO is even like so they think these direction changes is this really cool meaningful journey and it really adds in "prestige" to get the end game because now that's a signaler that you went the distance and you must be a real gamer. Zoomies are always fucking suckers for this bullshit. On top of that you got the bread and butter washed boomer millennials who haven't touched a real RPG in forever(see Cross citing Runescape and Datto talking about WoW and FF loosely) and they're so out of touch of general game design, so they harken back to when they busted their balls when a game was extra stupid and to them in their stupid brain that's some big monumental good gaming experience. Despite not realizing how tons of those games severely lessened grinds and really just rearranged stuff when it comes to Item Levels and climbing ladders of harder modes in the actual end game. There's the reality now that with so much of the game squatted from the actual power climb and you're funneled into the Portal this can be hours on end watchable content for content fuckers.

Anybody with half a brain and a calculator can see how this shit doesn't translate well to a good experience for Destiny because nobody was really asking for there to be this arbitrary stretch of leveling especially when Bungie put everything on more extreme expiration dates and like fucking cunts they time gated the actual carrot once you went the distance of getting to end game, so if there's something genuinely good from 2nd half of these expansions, gratz you have an even shorter lifespan of having that big juicy special tier 5 looking fantastic.

I've told this story a few times here but D2 launch was a rare situation where Blizz customer support actually gave me a full refund where the rep I was talking with was also pissed off about the state of D2 and it was a motivator for giving it all back despite how I had logged like 12 or so hours

Among legendaries, I like 720 autos the most, they're so comfy to use, krait, misfit, chroma, 600 are close, gnawing hunger and arc logic were my favs.
Among exotics, I absolutely love graviton lance and levi breath, both are so satisfying to use. I mained levi well before it's even received any buffs, just the concept of a heavy bow was super cool. And graviton is my comfort weapon.
My ideal triple exotic loadout would be witherhoard, graviton lance, and levi breath.

The 600 stasis LMG seems fine, the origin trait rocket is decent. Auto rifle with kinetic tremors can be fun, but mostly in lower difficulties. The hand cannon is 2-burst that I can't get a hang of. I haven't tried other guns. The stasis wave sword has a weird perk that gives special ammo for three hits, haven't tested it yet.

ITL. I knew once ITL was over and Final Shape was out, and things got back to normal, Bungie would go back to their selfish and idiotic ways of running Destiny, and I was correct.

Echoes was terrible, more layoffs happened, they repeat the same phrase saying they'll win our trust back in some copy paste article talking about the layoffs, and everything after that has been terrible.

They did so many good things during ITL, all seasons were free, every expansion was free, they were gonna turn the expansions campaign free to play and turn the DLC into a Forsaken style pack so you can obtain the exotics with the raid and dungeon on the side.

They also brought back two fan favorite exotic missions and a activity that was requested for a long time. Pantheon was also such a good reuse of raid content as well too. It really brought the community together for such a nice time.

But all that is gone now, and the game is in an even shittier state more than ever. I just wish we can go back to a time when Bungie actually cared about what the hell we said, and actually kept their promises and would appease to the general public instead of the 1% who want to grind one activity 24/7 for top tier gear.

This game isn't for me anymore, I haven't played for months and I skipped this new expansion. There could be ways to actually incentivize me to come back, but those chances of what I want actually happening is about as equal as a cold day in hell. Content getting unvaulted en masse, a more friendly new player experience with the return of Red War, and everything being made free that is returning.

There were no rainbow barriers or even a destination mechanic in prismatic before the delay. All of it was added afterwards, and Bungie was absolutely going to ship TFS with only those three supers.

Another thing to keep in mind about how they see the game different than many players do. A few threads back somone posted a pic about how Bungie were surprised by the terminally lonline/content creator class bad mouthing the game for lack of content. They were surpised because they developed the game under the assumption people would just stop playing the game when they were done with content and come back when something new was added. And bad mouthing was bad from a marketing perspective, so they felt the need to cater to the somewhat. But even so, the game will never have enough new content for anyone that logs in all day every day to consume, no game can, hence the grind, recycled content/reused assets, etc. Live service means you need an internet connection to access it, not that your meant to live in it. And the people who do are the squeakiest of wheels.

The new system is just the old system with a sticker over the numbers. They even included a way for you to track what your Level would be in the old system, because they're the same system.
This means that they're pushing up the floor 200~300 every 6 months and just setting you at the soft cap. Which technically wouldn't be a problem, but the grind to the powerful/pinnacle cap got WAY worse even though you aren't limited to your Powerful/Pinnacle Drops per week and you don't have to play 3 characters to get to level.
Also, Light Level as a system just hasn't really mattered since Seraph. They gave up all pretense of it mattering with EoF, by just gating Portal activities and rewards behind hitting certain Level thresholds.

EoF is effectively D3/D4, depending on your reckoning, it really is not that much different than the leap from D1 to D2 in terms of story (its actually a more drasitc departure than that story wise). So enjoy your sequel, with a new loot system and story laid on top of existing content.

Tbh it just needs to have some of the destinations combined and for the map to be sort of expanded. Like combine the Cosmodrome/EDZ, Reef/Dreaming City, Mars/Throne World, and Last City/Tower instead of having 2 separate destinations. Then just copy the small weekly nodes we had in D1 and make them where you go to see all the Strikes, Gambit, Crucible, and Legends activities. Maybe another for the weekly raids and dungeons. A decent user interface person could make it all work and look good.
