2042 launch was insanely bad in every way.
But I guess it did do them a favor in the sense that as long as 6 functions properly and doesn't look abysmal then it should be received fairly well. And the alphas already seem to indicate that.
5 and 2042 suffered by having huge playerbase drops so the devs kind of gave up, hopefully 6 can avoid that.

It was the most fun battlefield has been since 2142. Transports were important because of the distance between objectives being longer than a 5 second hold of the shift key. Same for troop spawning transports, you're actively griefing your team if you just drive it onto the objective instead of parking it close like a beachhead[like sunderers in planetside2]

On launch getting farmed with a vehicle never happened because Lis didn't exist and if a launcher was needed anyone could equip it.

I remember when they added the javelin to the game and I sat on top of the antenna on manifest with my soflam and attackers vehicles couldn't even leave spawn with LoS not mattering.


God I fucking hate that we're going back to this claustrophobic, shooting is the only important role in the game shit.

Good pilots will do 1 a couple of times and then get frustrated and do 2. The only reason any vehicles are allowed to farm is because you and your team are too stupid to do anything about it. Fuck it's even more brainless in 2042 because they removed vertical lock on limits because people were camping at the top of the skybox.

I play Breakthough in 2042 because I don't like how stupidly wide the maps are. I actually played on oldgen console sometimes just to get the 32p versions. Modern Breakthrough isn't the best and its clear they didn't balance shit around it. It was fun back in 1;s Operations on some maps as you actually felt like you were storming an entire castle, an actual huge enemy base with multiple entry points. Now its just some random house in the middle of a city block. Conquest to me feels to much like a merry go round with only maybe one or two kills in between. Its especially bad on maps that just have widely spread points with no real flow to them.

Yes I think the anti-tank engineer should be focusing on eliminating enemy armor. Vehicles respawn every 1:20 or something, so until they make vehicles more powerful but with an increased respawn time so you can actually feel like removing an enemy asset is important, yes keep up the hostility forever and ever.

If this trailer is representative of the tone and feel of the final game, shit is going to be bomb as hell. To me, it looks like they're aiming for gritty, hard-hitting grounded type combat and that's good. It's like if you want to play Pride Parade Power Rangers having a very expensive airsoft skirmish, get BO7. The campaign looks real good going by the trailer, however it's apparently like 2 years behind schedule because it was originally being made by Marcus Lehto until he left EA and they shut down his studio. Traditional multiplayer is being reviewed by BF Labs participants and has had good reception, however there's been much debate over the movement, class system, and matchmaking. According to leaks, Portal is returning but I imagine it'll just degrade into 1HP milsim slop and AI bot farms like it did in 2042. Lastly, there's a F2P BR mode that should bring in normies and something else referred to as "Gauntlet", which seems to be some sort of party game with multiple mini-modes. Not sure how they'll handle a title this big, but things are definitely shaping up better than 2042.

It won't be amazing, its just not possible to have a good classic BF due to micros and woke shit needing to be in every game. But I think it'll be okay. They're at least trying to capture the old aesthetics and the labs already have more guns then launch 2042 (portal guns don't count). I think the gunplay will feel a bit to modern and CoD like but I guess that's the compromise
I just really hope they don't spend to much resources on silly game modes that no one wants. If they make a BR just make it work on normal maps instead of wasting time on some exclusive thing that no one plays.

It's nice trailer fodder but I can't remember the last time I was on the ground in BF1 and had a blown up air vehicle actually show up, let alone one that didn't just bounce off a building when flown into it.

Overall the only major issue with the gadgets is lack of variety. Assault needs more then 5 grenade launchers. The injector apparently doesn't self heal anymore so that's not too bad. Gadget wise though its not really so bad, each does a good job of their role. Not too keen on the supply crate doing both healing and ammo though. I'd just like more of them. I REALLY hope they aren't keeping the amounts low so they can add more through a battlepass drip feed again.

I think the perk tree thing though is ass. Especially how level 4 is some OP skill, its pretty much an Overwatch Ult at that point.

How are these not ultimate abilities? I get that they are supposed to have to be earned and you won't be using them on a cooldown but I still think what they do is way to much. I like the ones like UAV though, getting a buff that isn't some instant but a vehicle or gun that can be countered is more fun. Kind of like V's spawn a squad tank thing.

And maybe I'm blind but both of the 'factions' look way to similar. It'll be way to hard to even register the opposing side as different when they're wearing the same kind of shit. Yeah I get that's all standard military gear and what IRL would probably be like but I don't care, make the bad guys look like bad guys.

Though yeah they need to do something about TUGS. They call the class recon except TUGS is only good on defence since you have to place it by hand. If they want him to do actual recon then that's what balls are for, since you can use them as you move in. They made the defending sensor part of his class identity and the attacking sensor optional. It should be the other way around.

Yeah the motion ball is just the better and balanced alternative especially for 'aggressive recons', you can use it to defend or attack objectives and it worked in BC2 & BF4 . BF1/V had the flare gun which was a good equivalent

I don't see what was wrong with the way BF4 had classes set up. That worked pretty well, I think. They had a pretty decent sized pool of weapons that were for all classes, too. On the one hand it's cool to have access to every weapon no matter your class, but on the other hand it's hard to to just not want what worked already. What's this shit about special abilities? I see from screenshots the characters are named, which already doesn't bode well. Are they doing stupid hero shit again?

Assault gets ARs, LMGs, DMRs. Ammo box, all the kills infantry gadgets like grenade launcher/underbarrel shotgun/C4.
Recon gets carbines, SMGs, DMRs. All the sneaky gadgets like balls/laser painter/spawn beacon, and I guess C4 too.
Engineer gets SMGs, rockets and repair tool.
Medic gets SMGs, medic bag and defibs.
Everyone can take shotguns instead if they want.

Now assault and recon are the dedicated offensive classes so they're good, medic isn't as good at fighting but is critical for support so he's still good, engineer is the same as always. Maybe medic/engineer only having SMGs makes them too short range in which case they can have carbines too, and recon can have ARs so he's still better at fighting.
It's possible that assault/recon could use some other tweaks to distinguish them. Maybe assault should have armor like in BF2. Maybe suppressors should be recon exclusive (and have less/no penalty). I don't know.

We don't have 100% confirmation yet but it seems like its 'named grunts'. So the character you play as has an identity but most of the lore is pretty basic and nothing more then shit like fought here and there. But we do know you can select a head for your character so its not like they're set in stone either.
I think the names are just for the ease of micro transactions so instead of saying an item is for "Apax Assault exclusive" it'll be a Jimbo item or whatever they're name is.

The abilities seem to be like mini scorestreak things where as you do well in a match you get more of your perk tree. Levels 1 - 3 seem like decent buffs but some of the level 4 ones seem a bit to strong. We also know there are team point streaks to spawn in stuff kind of like BF V's V1s.

Am I the only one who thinks SMGs should go to support and LMGs to engineer now? LMGs made sense for support back when its main role was just “ammo guy” but now it’s also the healer/revive class and should probably be fighting up close alongside their assault teammates to keep them alive. Meanwhile, engineers (at least in 2042) have also assumed a sort of defensive anti-infantry role that would make sense for LMGs. Feels like people are just saying otherwise because they think it’ll be a clone of BF4

I'm really not a fan of all the gimmicky killstreak and class path bullshit they're going with. I actually like the open weapon system as long as they balance the weapons correctly, but all that other shit seems superfluous. The class balance also seems out of wack. IMO Assault should be given the ammo kit so that it can resupply its own grenades and (anti-infantry oriented) explosives. That makes it a good pusher because it can clear corners with explosives and break sightlines with smokes. Support should be relegated to a strict medic role so that you will always know who has ammo and who has heals/revives.

Does Battlefield 2042 have anything like 6vs6 or even up to 10vs10 in smaller maps or is it just big open maps with like 64 players or more per side?

The main aspects were essentially a lite verson of older games you'd play with a select range of guns/gadets on that games maps. it wasn't bad but only being a tiny portion of it and it being in the 2042 physics made it not the most fun.
Secondly there was the portal editor where you could make your own stuff. The editor wasn't bad and you could do some interesting stuff but you got zero xp because at first the entire playlist was just bot farm shit.
