Hey everyone. I'm a new player, though I did watch some let's plays.
I have a question. I've got some chickens joining my colony. So I've looked up how to build and set-up a farm. All guides tell that I can mark a zone for the animals to roam, but no zones can be selected in animal zone assigment tab, in my game. All I can do is to build a fence pen and put a pen marker to keep them in there. So did the animal zoning mechanic changed recently?
Also is there any (vanilla) way if the eggs in egg box are unfert, pawns would eventually haul them out, before waiting until it's full with 20 of them? They'll spoil otherwise, because it's a warm temperature controlled room for fert eggs.

Do you guys allow more than 1 ideology in your colony? I don't, but then it hit me. If I did, I could have more specialists but would need 2 places of worship and I'd have to rely on NPC ideologies.

My question is: Can I reform them with enough points? If I have 14 colonists and 7 are in one ideology and the other are in the other 7, does that mean I can have 2 spiritual leaders and 4 specialists in total?

Also, I think the tribes used to have a different age distribution - lots of young, few old. In one of the starts, I even had 6 male pawns with unrealistically cool traits and skills, and we tried to kidnap wives from tribes. 4 or 5 in total, not a single one over 16. It wasn't hard to find.
In one of my last games in 1.0, I finished naked brutality start and launched the ship with 3 male pawns, because everyone else the game offered me was disgustingly bad. I lived alone in the desert for the first three years.

I had a similar problem and realized it was happening for the same reason that more males are born than females but women outnumber men in society: Boys and men just die more frequently.
I noticed my response team to an incoming raid was 100% men and realized I didn't draft any of the pregnant women or new mothers. And that's exactly why women traditionally outnumber men in every known civilization. The only pawns at risk of dying during the raid were the men in the field.

The solution is the same as in the real world:
Before birth control, most women ended up with kids in their teens or 20s. After birth control, women can control how many kids they have and suddenly they start having careers and doing combat roles, etc. So I slapped IUDs in my combat-oriented female pawns and fixed the disparity.

Basically all revolves around you actually investing into your weapon tech to get the tools to deal with them effectively. It's not like Vanilla where mechs are just like any raid except they are tanky and don't flee. The game warns you mechs are coming for a reason.

A few days ago I got hit with a 4 days timer until the mechs attacked. I had just settled and barely had time to harvest some rice by the time I had to take off. It was also annoying because rimefeller's oil wells take days to start up and had to stop the operation with the well already built while running very low on chemfuel.
Some other times it was closer to a whole quandrum with no notice, plus another quandrum extra time. Not sure if it depends on the difficulty settings or what, I hadn't changed any settings.

After I got hydroponics on the ship I usually just visit a tile to mine plasteel and then leave though. It's a lot more profitable to jump quickly to a new map with fresh animals and ores. i have a comfy crashlanded run going at the moment.
You dont feel the frantic need to make the ship as big as possible and min max resource gain which is nice.
I use the grav ship as a staging point for raids and to land on scanned resources to pick the site clean at my leisure. Obviously it has no weight limit so you can fill yer boots then fly home when you like.

Tynan is often bad at it, but for the Anomaly entities, how vacuum resistant are they? I'm mainly thinking about its integration with Odyssey, when you have captured Anomaly entities on your Grav Ship. Anomaly entities trying to escape tend to try to break into the outdoors part of your map via the shortest route possible (especially Revenants), so I was thinking - what if one was to line the capture platforms along the edge of your Grav Ship, with two entrances into it where the closest one goes outside?

That said, this idea only works if Tynan didn't decide to be lazy and be all 'Anomaly entities are immune to space vacuum because dark archotech powers' or something stupid like that.

I agree that once you're on the gravship, you're on the gravship, that's it. Going anywhere with it is a 3-5 day commitment, you can't use it to trade because it wipes tiles clean. It's difficult to build a gravship without the start, the gravlite panels are very hard to come by, and chances are your colony is going to be so far ahead of the gravship, a mere 500 tiles couldn't possibly fit said colony, so it's extremely hard to convert your playthrough into it. It clearly was meant for a caravaning playstyle where you play the grav start.
The biggest contribution Odyssey has is probably the shuttle. That integrates into any run you're doing, easily. Everything else is more segregated.

I tried to make a 0 technology start but I can't seem to land correctly the technology tree's mod to start with no technology at all or have a scenario that actually removes my starting technologies.

Is there a method/mod to get pawns to store a stackable item in two separate shelves reliably? E.g., I want my pawns to store a few simple meals in the prison fridge for prisoners to just grab and eat, but the rest in the main fridge in case I run out of better meals. That's what I'm doing now but there are so many annoyances with it. Like I made a nice runway for my ship but the floor gets removed every time the ship lands, I always have to make sure people don't accidentally enter the ship when it's launching, reassigning beds every time and when a cat sleeps on the runway I have no option but to land elsewhere or abort the landing.
