So pick a TBC pet for now and when more info comes out about the newer species switch to one of those. 1) PvP servers always sucked. Which is why in Classic, all the PvP servers either became 100% alliance or 100% horde.
2) "Phase 2"(IE pvp with no battlegrounds) is an absolute unplayable shitshow for everyone but psychopathic no-life rogues.
3) On servers where you can queue for BG's anywhere, if queues aren't instant, PvP'ers will camp 50+ leveling zones, or places like Blackrock Mountain/Dire Maul to gank people trying to play the game. If the factions are imbalanced, there will be swarms of the dominant faction ganking people.
4) A PvP server with warmode is pretty retarded. And leveling a hardcore character on a PvP server is even more retarded.
5) There a 0% chance of there being two "healthy" servers over the long-term. Either the PvP server will become the healthy server or the PvP server will become the healthy server(most likely the PvE server for the above-mentioned reasons and based on polls). And it's highly unlikely they will merge the two since they are of different types and someone will complain.

So basically, whoever rolls on the PvP server will not only face the problems mentioned here, but will end up on a dead server. So whoever rolls on the PvP is a fucking retard.
