I think TCAL picked a perfect timeframe to launch TW:40K. Space Marine 2 and Rogue Trader revitalized 40K in the gaming sphere after so much 40K shovelware. Dark Heresy will release around that time too and most likely mog Rogue Trader and have wider appeal since it has full voice acting and more polished. Those games brought over people who weren't 40kfags and that might get them interested in TCAL's game in the process, since it will claim to eventually feature all the factions they love.
What do you anons think; Will TW:40K be the most successful Total War game and will the recent success and audience pull of the other 40K titles help it?
I also have ant problems, I've killed so many I'm pretty sure I accelerated their evolution. Once they cordinated like british commandos to distract me while the team lead made it's way to my eye, as soon as it rendered that mounstruos little head it bit me and put me out of commission for the day. There was also that ant that stopped me from squashing it, bet the little fucker felt like Raiden in the first Metal Gear Rising mission, I was so flabbergasted I let it go.

I have something in my brain that doesn't really let me focus and need a somewhat relaxing campaign. Currently willing to play Dark Elves, Eltharion, Teclis, that Khorne guy who isn't a demon, Archaon, maybe some lizardmen or any of the tree focused wood evles. I'm pretty out of it and haven't really kept up with the changes so I'm not all too willing to jump in blind into a campaign that might leave me feeling worse.

Since functionally an orc, a dwarf, a skaven, a dark elf T1 shield and weapon unit are all the same 'type' of unit - no crumbling/dissolving, no weird magical ability. So you can easily make it so in a Medieval 3 game four faction's T2 semi-professional spearmanii behave like one of those four.
It's also something that was an issue for me in R2 where, maybe because my memory is DEI-ified, but every kind of unit could hold the line generally speaking long enough to flank and spank. Whereas in Warhammer chaff will get torn open and rout before you can resolve the flank cavalry action.
And frankly you can look to the accounts of someone like Anna Komena about the Latin knights that suggest certain cavalry could feasibly play off as sturdy as lower end monstrous cavalry. Like Cataphracts/Agulani/some special Latin Knight unit could be exceptionally sturdy and smaller in numbers with pikes or specialty anti-large and anti-armor halberds necessary.
Another example I want to try and mod into Pharaoh is 360 degree fire-while-moving archers for one of the guerilla types, be it Elamite or Babylon's Chaldeans (They're a bit too early but fuck it). I know from firsthand accounts I've read that Floridian Indians or thereabouts were real nimble bowmen - hug a tree for cover versus bullets and shoot behind it, second you stopped chasing them turn around and shoot. That's another Warhammery unit that could be transferred over.

Terror could be alright if they weren't shit on the charge but they are, it also diminishes in usefulness the higher the difficulty.

Personally for me in games, the term cheating is exclusive only to when a player goes outside of what is programmed into the game to give yourself an advantage. The trick to get people to break alliances because of the bug that makes them agree more if they hate you? That's a cheat because it's clear you're not meant to be able do that. Spamming doomstacks and corner camping, I don't consider these cheating because you can totally do that within the intended boundaries the game mechanics made. It's "cheesing" sure, but not cheating.

They should change how the edge of the battle maps work.
Instead of an impenetrable invisible wall it should be a grey zone, like in FPS game.
You can exist the combat area of the map for few seconds but can't stay outside or you die.

As much as gunpowder factions can be fun, mixing cavalry with infantry, gunpowder troops with artillery, it can be dizzyingly frustratingโoften is. Only advice I can give outside of the obvious "do they actually have clear and direct LOS" is to ensure they have some space around them. I think the whole idea behind cancelling all of their in-progress projects and going a year with 0 releases or announcements really indicates that the technical environment they were developing on has been all but abandoned and they were taking significant pre-production time to redevelop that environment.

Assuming they have at least 2 parallel TW projects underway, which is what their communication seems to suggest, I would expect at least a 6 month release gap between them, but they may also avoid releasing them both in the same year, in which case I'd expect the first to come out between spring and summer, and the 2nd to come out in winter 2027.
Release plans are as much about marketing and financials as they are about production so it's hard to predict when exactly they'll choose to release things, but there's also a limit to how long they can just sit on WH3.

Itโs been 20 years and Iโm still annoyed that bronze shield pikemen are better than silver shield pikemen. Silver is supposed to be better than bronze. They do look cooler tho, and I understand that itโs a balancing thing so that macedon has something strong since the seleucids get elephants and cataphracts. Silver shields only have 10 attack and 14 defense for a 2-turn recruitment unit which is not that good, producing two phalanx pikemen in the same amount of time seems better strategically, since theyโre 8/13 and only 3 points weaker overall

Does anyone actually use the special handgunners you get in the vamp campaign? Iโve found that they donโt mesh well with the playstyle unless you build an entire army around them. Is actually the ideal way to play Franz now with the AI potential, I went after Festus to save Talabecland and Hochland and they've been my greatest support so far, its allowed me to expand and take Sylvania out pretty easily and the best part is Kemmler is easier to deal with when I decide to capture Marienburg and the Bretonnian settlements. Their mechanics boring but it fuels your economy, currently Id say theyre in the safest part of the map until Dechala gets placed near there, most of your early big threats (Snikch, Lokhir, Nakai occasionally) dont pop off until later so taking them out is relatively easy. Id probably saying theyre just average but if you enjoy having a pretty safe area to expand and hold, Cathay is pretty easy mode for that.

Can someone pretty please help me in translating (and having the submod actually start) Gothic Total War v1.0, original German version into English?
I've managed to do it a few times over the years, but always gave up when I saw that the .bat file would cause a ctd.
No matter what I would do, the game would crash whenever I tried translating the mod from German to English.
Some advice and/or help would be greatly appreciated. I would ask the original author, Amon Amarth, but he hasn't been seen since 2013 I think.

If you were attacked with your back against a mountain, you would be on a slope above the enemy. If you were attacked against a coast you could use it to prevent flanking, etc. The battle maps literally loaded campaign height data. This was true even through the warscape games like Rome 2/Attila and last I checked even 3K has it. Stop talking about shit you know nothing about.
