Unless you have a better option, then yes. They will either ignore her and go face, in which case you have a follower with bane that can attack or remove a threat, or they will crash into her and die and/or use removal.

Possible Balance changes

Self explanatory, I'll try to nerf cards such that they dont kill the viability of other archetypes of their class. Im open to criticism, these are just suggestions to discuss, for sword, rune and dragon

Sword ( Public enemy no1):

Gildaria now Summons 1 steelclad and 1 regular knight, making it unable to evo without rally like ive seen others suggest makes it a pretty dead card in aggro, and its swords only aoe AFAIK, so nerfing other sword cards would be better

Amelia gives 2pp instead of 3

Luminous Magus summons 2 steelclad knights instead of 3

Rose only makes the card it searches free until the turn ends, or it could half the cost permanently

Amalia only buffs officers instead of all sword cards

Yurius summons steelclad knights

Kagemitsu gets storm on respawn for aggro, ninja master summons a 2/2 ambush token evo for ambush sword


Rune ( Public enemy no2):

Followers only spellboost the hand once, not multiple times

Anne n Grea summon no longer has rush

Kuon cost now 8

Norman effects only trigger on evo, heal effect removed, leave healing to abyss and haven

D- Climb spellboosts hand once


Dragon ( Just topdeck Genesis bro):

Fennie reduces cost of spells in hand on fanfare

Dragonsign draws 2 when in overflow

Goldennote draws 3 instead of healing in overflow ( dragon has enough healing)

Depends what you means. Later expansions will be larger than this one, this expansion was kind of a 1.5, it was the 2nd half of the first set. So the next expansion will have considerably more cards and variety.

But if you're asking "does every expansion have a deck or 2 that is super unbalanced and dominates the format" then yes, every expansion will have a "Rune" and "Sword" that completely shits on everything else and 95% of the ladder plays. But that's an issue with every TCG

About the same, puppets has a better early-mid game where it can rush down slow decks and even stall out aggro decks like Abyss, but if you don't win by turn 8 with Orchis you basically auto-lose. Artifact is the opposite, you have fucking nothing for turns 1-4 and will get skull fucked by aggro Abyss, but if you can survive until turn 6ish, you can out last and beat most decks.

Here's my fix

Anne Grea -> 3/3 Spellboost 2, ward summon 4/4
Norman -> Earth Rite cost = 2, remove the heal and change it to 2 damage to all enemies, dirt could use board clear and burn, ends absurd healing spam
Astaroth's Reckoning -> Deal 10 damage to all enemies. Ends the OTK but still strong card, rune forced to have 2 d-calls to OTK with Satan which makes it less likely or forces them to wait longer
Valse -> 4pp This card causes way to many problems early and allows sword to steamroll for free
Rose -> Only should discount until end of turn

Liu Feng -> 4/4 base stats recovers 3 health whenever she evolves
Dragon sign -> Draws in overflow instead of 10pp and recovers 1PP
Burnite -> Draw a card if the discarded card cost at least 5PP

Aether -> super evolve no longer gives aura but instead draws 2 cards and restores 4 health

The thing is that most of the time, the best decks in a meta aren't the more complex one. Sword, dragon, blood, shadow, haven meta decks are pretty much always easy to pilot and get good results at. Only portal, rune, forest had higher rate of harder to pilot meta decks, but even then most of them were still easy to get good with if you tried.

I've been playing pure dirt (0 spellboost cards) and this deck is basically glorified aggro sword. I dominate the board by playing on curve for the first few turns and pray for opportunities to hit face. There is absolute 0 late game. If my opponent is still near full hp on turn 7, I just concede. Never literally but the odds of a true Satan OTK are only about 1/3. Sometimes they'll draw the storm or burn but it won't be enough to kill, or their hand is filled with non-apocalypse cards they shuffled back in and they go through those.

The point is though that no matter how well dshift seems to open, I never know what the true game state is because of the inherent dishonesty of the spellboost mechanic, so I always have to play out the game not knowing if they actually nut drew and it was unwinnable for turn 1 no matter what I have, or if they opened up with a bunch of A&G>A&G>Kuon>Kuon but I'm still in the game because their dshifts are in the bottom 10 cards. And usually they ARE winning, but they're losing just often enough that I have no choice but to play it out if I don't want to tank games for no reason.

I think the set 2 meta is just inherently way harder than the set 1 meta no matter what you're on and regardless of deck strength. Playing to your match ups is so fucking important in a meta game filled with strong counters running amuck everywhere, no matter what I play there are so many specific checks I need to keep in mind in this meta game even on lower tier decks like Storm Haven always having to sequence checks that kill through Aether board.

If you don't understand the fundamentals of card games then you'll never be in Diamond even with the most braindead of decks. There's tons of resources out there that explains win conditions, tempo vs value, the whole concept of playing to win vs playing to not lose, etc.

Don't auto pilot, every turn is important to think upon to avoid micro errors. Shit like evolving the wrong follower against a likely Aragavy play wiping you vs leaving a follower up that he needs to evolve and trade into. Think about your opponent's most likely next play and then make your board state as difficult as possible for them to deal with.

I just started putting into practice trying to think a few turns ahead. I'm not going to fill my board with fairies if it's T4/5 against Rune. I also try to work out like "If the Op does X then I'll Y but if they don't then I'll do Z". Also trying to seek out lethals a few turns ahead and what to do if it's countered. I really only started putting this into practice with tempo forest becasue I really fucking love that deck, I even spent 60k vials to fully animate it. Not him, but I'd say it depends mostly on your opponent's possible responses on the next turn and the turn after.
The responses include their possible damage, healing, wards, boardclears. Some decks even have a designated kill turn, which you might want to avoid (like Roach Forest, I just try to close games before t7, if I can't then I pray that they don't have lethal)
Then you can look at your hand and possible draws, then decide to choose between topdeck lethal or prolonging the game. For aggro though, mostly topdeck lethal.

I would suggest Tempo Forest to train, but it's not that strong or easy to play.
Aggro Abyss is a nice deck, because you always play for face and topdecks, but you will learn something when facing another aggro, then you can think about possible interactions.

One thing about Portal is that in set 1, Artifacts could comfortably go deep into late game against anything but Spellboost (and against spellboost if a good early roll forced out both sevos). Depending on how the early game panned out you could lean hard on this to eke out victories via value and burn damage.

Now that the ladder is 60% sword and Gildaria autowins the Sword lategame, Portal can't do that anymore, so the deck lost a chunk of its power.

It also suffers from aggro abyss actually being good; similar to Rune you end up running a bunch of cards you don't actually want in order to survive aggro, but unlike with dirt cards which at least scale, the puppet cards you can run without bricking the deck are pretty low value outside the early games.
