Yeah because that was Chapter 3 of 7, hes meant to fill the same role as King and Queen (Final boss of the darkworld you make friends with/subdue by the end), and importantly he's not the brother of the fucking protagonist. He wouldnt need more than the one chapter, if Asriel showed up unless he dies at the end or immediately goes back to university it'd be weird to have him for only the one chapter, especially when Ralsei is supposed to be filling the role of "Moar Asriel" right now for the people who liked him in Undertale. What's his purpose if he isnt on the opposing side?

Literally ripping You out of their chest after spending the whole day keeping them and their little ragtag adventure party alive. Creating a Dark Fountain in their living room after Ralsei warned Berdley that all of reality would collapse into darkness by doing exactly that. Throwing the fight against the literal harbinger of this apocalypse so goddamn hard the admin kept trying to get you to let it slide. And when you finally do manage to get an opening for Susie to go in and end up damaging this thing’s weapon, Kris steps aside to let it down her and Ralsei anyway.

You are so tired of this kid’s shit. If only you could give them a piece of your mind, but... no. They’ve never been able to hear you. Some of your dialogue options could be their thoughts, but you couldn’t hear their voice either.

And you’re still stuck here until Kris presumably wakes up again. Probably only going to be a few hours, at worst. It was already pitch black out when Kris made the fountain, there weren’t any traces of sunrise when Susie dragged you out to rescue Undyne. Yeah, you couldn’t have been in that TV World for longer than an hour or two in the light world. Even with all the costume and set changes, that wouldn’t have been too much longer than the average length of a game show.

He could've just said that because he wanted to release your vessel into the world allowing you to meet Kris. Note that it's not just Kris that gets that reaction, it's also Susie and Noelle. Though that does make you wonder why he doesn't do it for any other characters you can meet, especially Ralsei. Maybe those 3 characters are in the final party? Maybe being shattered across time gave him future vision? Also, Gaster using the vessel for a "higher power" doesn't really make sense since the power is in the SOUL, not the printed puppet. The goner maker has like 15 parts to choose, Gaster has plenty extra spares if he wanted a body. It actually makes more sense for him to want the SOUL to have a vessel as it could allow for a channeling of power. As much as Gaster loves us I don't think he has the best intentions with the SOUL's power.
Also also, Gaster's true form can still be unknown without having to hijack our body (which would just make people use GasterVessel as his true form like with mysteryman), perhaps a swirling vortex of different forms or just having the space he's in be redacted out like a hole was cut in the game.
