It would have left him with only one Steelclad Knight instead of two at the end of the turn. Granted, I didn't know he had Olivia into Quickblader to follow up, so I'm essentially kicking myself for nothing and you can't predict the future, but it did push up his kill threshold. Remove the free 16 spellboost they get from A&G and Kuon.
Suddenly, to actually be able to William you for 69 damage or actually win the game, they need to spend all their time casting spells. And if they spend all their time casting spells just to power up their spellboost payoffs, they can't afford to play Norman.
If they play Norman without infinite followerboost in their deck, he's just a brick that makes them lose the game because healing for 8 doesn't mean shit if your William does 2 damage and your DClimb costs 16pp.

I like the storm deck a lot (but I already knew I enjoy that playstyle from SV1), and is what I'm currently playing on ranked right now. You just need x3 Jeanne x3 Salefa for that version (and x3 Odin, but it's also the case for 90% of decks right now).
I got so frustrated trying to play Ward Haven early this season that I ended up switching to aggro Abyss for a while, so I don't personally enjoy it very much (and if I just wanted to play followers with a bunch of stats every turn, I'd be playing sword).

It's just a list I found in one of those win streak sites, but it gets the job done.
Personally I find the deck fun because timing your amulets to maximize damage, or having to think when it's safe to drop the 'damage investment' is fun to think about during a match.

One quick advice is that ideally you want to drop the 1pp bird amulet turn 4 and not turn 1, to time it with Jeanne turns, since that one amulet is kinda weak by itself.

It's the norm for BO1 tournaments because there's otherwise no reason to bring multiple decks. The point is you see both decks of your opponent and then choose which deck you bring based on that.
In BO3 and other formats, deck lists are more often closed, but it still depends. Some are for example "bring 3 decks, your opponent bans one of them after looking at them".
