Allegedly raids and dungeons at normal will be fixed at 0 PD next reset, but Bungie's got a pretty low batting average for pushing fixes that actually work as intended, especially in EoF. There's also the loot problem, since most raids aren't giving out competitive drops anymore. I'm down to raid just for the sake of raiding, but most looter shooter players want to shoot for loot, I imagine.
Still, the Greatest Hits are all still valuable, so if you don't have an Apex or a Forbearance or Hezen's, then it might be worth your while. I personally have fought Atheon enough for one lifetime, but I've been eyeing those VoG craftables since they were announced. Might try to tard wrangle /dg/ into some runs in the next few weeks.

It's completely fucked because it's skewed vs. the time/reward ratio being ass. Either you have long missions that give a better amount of rewards vs. time spent or you have the opposite. In either case, the average bicycle thief will always find the fastest method for either. First it was Encore, now it's Caldera and soon it might be something else. I spend most of my time in either Master Quickplay or picking out specific missions with Bonus drops, then jump into solo Pinnacles once in a while to do a larger run for Unstable Cores. I think the biggest issue i have with the current system is that people with vaults that have quite the juicy amount of decent loots and crafted items might still have a mountain of loot that are sitting at 10 power, and those approaching 400 (or have reached 400) will technically face an absolutely ridiculous grind just to get their weapons up the speed.

I think there's no reason a player should have to make a choice between "shaving time off of a 150+ hour grind" and "engaging in gameplay that does not make me want to die". Actual optimization shouldn't be a sacrifice. The game should just be fun. Drops should be properly tuned to how long a player CAN reasonably clear. Bonus drops should be more prolific, so that you can justify switching activities more. Fireteam and Pinnacle ops should be tuned down for solo players, at least when there's no matchmaking. I think in general, in this new system Bungie needs to get less stingy, which has been a problem for them forever. If the little green engrams were 2 or 3 drops per, and difficulty grading let you really step on your own neck to let you break the +3 power cap (ie. Max out negative modifiers, and finish quickly would give you like, +7 power in all your drops.) Then you would go a long way to upping the variety.

It's frustrating that, at various points in time, Destiny has excelled at:
>Production value
>Content quality
>Content quantity
>Narrative quality
>Lore quality
>Art quality
>Game systems
>Quality of life
>Loot mechanics
>Endgame grind

But it has never had all of these at the same time. In Destiny 1, you had pretty shit in-game narrative and issues with QoL, but really great lore and art direction, along with overall pretty good mechanics and systems. Then you have things like D2 Red War which had immaculate production value with tons of high quality asset work and a pretty good volume of content, but the narrative, loot, grind, and overall systems were trash. Then you have stuff like TFS where half the game is cobbled from recycled assets, you've only got one strike, no PvP or Gambit support and the overall lore has gotten a lot worse, but the campaign narrative and overall health of the game's systems are in a pretty good place.

If we could have the lore and art direction of D1 and pre-BL D2, the QoL and buildcrafting potential of LF/FS, the narrative quality of WQ, the content volume of Forsaken/Year 2, and the production value of Red War all at the same time, this would pretty much be one of the best games of all time as far as I am concerned.
