Newfag tourist here. I got a discord group that plays games every Monday, a streamer community. We have about 40 people active in the voice chat usually. We've been playing TF2 but I want us to spice it up.
Which battlefield game would be good for running a private server? We'd probably have at least 15v15 going most of the time. Preferably something easy to run because a lot of us have potato ass PCs.
I played Bad Company 2 back in the day and loved it's goofy atmosphere. We play just to hang out, nobody really sweats. I don't see it on Steam or GoG though. I did some cursory googling and found something called Project Rome that looks promising. I'm not deadset on BC2 though.

I tried Delta Force, but the performance issues (AMD system) threw me off, and also the amount of spam in menus and the 100 different events and whatnot all going on at the same time were a bit too overwhelming.

Why are most of the maps so small? All the maps except Firestorm are basically tiny CoD three lane maps.

I think we are personally in for a good launch but peoples opinions on it will sour faster than usual. The devs are scared to do anything negative right now and only want to pander.

Their hesitation over fully going with locked weapons or unlocked weapons for the classes is an example of them being pussys right now. All they are doing is making to much playlists for no reason especially since the base game doesnt have a server browser.

From watching Silk's gameplay it didn't seem very weak. He got a bunch of dumb bomb kills easily, they carry two at once. AGMs not dealing too much damage is fine considering they're a spammable lockon weapon and attack jets have another weapon slot. And we don't know what full unlocked loadouts will be like. The base loadouts of vehicles have often been on the weaker side, so I'm taking any "vehicle is underpowered" criticism with a big grain of salt.

Out of the 9 maps at launch, 5 are set in tight urban centers: 2 in NYC, 2 in Gibraltar, and 1 in Cairo.

For comparison, BF3 and BF4 had 4 each (Tehran, Seine, Metro, and Talah) (Shanghai, Dawnbreaker, Locker, and Floodzone). BF1 had only 1 (Amiens), and BFV had two (the Rotterdam maps).
If you are not as much of a fan of these types of maps, this BF game may not scratch that same itch, at least not until those leaked Californian maps release.

This image is a pretty strong candidate for the rough area we might be playing in. It might be larger, or it might be smaller. Back when mp_Dumbo got leaked MONTHS ago and we got some descriptions of the areas we would be fighting in
Based on the descriptions we could be fighting all the way as far as the ice cream factory off Brooklyn Park on the left *at least*
and based on the DUMBO overpass shot that they recreated for promo, we will probably go up to the area just around the Manhattan Bridge overpass on the right
We also saw a firehouse in the gameplay reveal and DUMBO has one nearby just above Cadman Plaza, towards the bottom
Jane's Carousel was in the cinematic reveal (confirmed the icecream factory leak) just near the top
So that gives us a pretty good starting area to guess around in

Considering we only have to have maps big enough to fit 7 Conquest points at most with the given playercount, with enough space to transition between. I really don't think the DUMBO area is that small if that ends up being the final area of the Manhattan Bridge map. It would still be larger than we've had before actually, even if we don't get to play in Brooklyn Naval Yard or the Substation, or the empty construction yard, especially if it includes the several large parks

If you read again you'll see it's for 'verified.' no idea what the rules will be or how strict, but 2042 didn't have that, so when they reduced the XP gains greatly and introduced a soft cap to stop xp farms, it killed the dead mode in the dead game

A setting we haven't seen in a long time. The problem with BF6 is repeating a similar pattern of having a near future war taking place in thriving countries all while the factions being similar to how 2042 started except it's on a country based level now.

And I didn't try the gameplay so I can't speak in depth about it but from the shown footage, it seems like there's no recoil and squads being able to heal each other making the support role even more useless, assuming class weapons are in for good. Vehicles are also nerfed to hell, another thing 2042 pushed for to appease COD players

The issue with tank nerfs is that people don't realize this just encourages the worst of tank faggots even more. If your tank can't leave spawn without dying instantly, then you just won't leave it. Casual players won't bother so only the hyper vehicles autists will play it and further fuel the problem. 2042 especially sucked because ground vehicles had so many ways of being taken out that hiding on some hill on the other side of the map behind some trophy system was the only way to not die instantly.

That's great and all but milsim games suck. They have terrible gameplay loops that are all derivative of the same outdated one from Arma.
When you get a milsim that's still poorly imitating Armas loop, but tries to streamline it a little more for playability by removing some of the chore from the mechanics, you get sims like Squad
But those games just introduce a bunch of painful mechanics and new problems, to make people who probably just aren't very good at games, feel more important and then it becomes a chore again while they still continue to badly ape Armas loop in the background anyway

This seems like a stretch, maybe disingenuous. None of these buildings in Shanghai have actual interiors. The central tower only has a rooftop courtyard.
Also Shanghai was good for BF4, and it was large, but it wasn't anything special. All the empty space inbetween (usually roads) weren't spaces people would ever actually fight or play in, so they essentially weren't used most games. People would almost only fight within the control points and whatever set piece they were apart of. People fight outside the objective in BF6 all the time, like to control certain streets and buildings around Gibraltar Streets, that have nothing to do with the control point set piece but are indirectly part of controlling the objective. You can literally see people playing in the transition area between A-B. That doesn't happen on Shanghai streets.

If you just painted in all the areas on Shanghai that people use (painting out the open areas and roads), you would only be left with the control points.
If you just painted in all the areas on Empire State that people use, you would be comparing to the entirety of the Empire State map. You'd probably be left with a larger playable area as well.
