Excalibur (base since umbra's polarities are fucked)

warframe is honestly too easy to sweat over the tier lists, what matters more is how much you're willing to invest and what you want to do. even frames in desperate need of reworks like banshee and oberon are still very strong and with some investment, can go far beyond the endgame offered to us right now. optimal setups should be for the frames and weapons you actually want to use, practical setups with 1-2 forma make up 80% of my roster and all of them perform fine. that said, there's a few frames that are fun that i would call essential:

all of these are good frames with simple, effective, and all-round general use kits for handling 98% of the game's content. outside of that, you should ultimately accept the call of the void and collect all of the frames to get a feel for what you want. i think out of my almost 4k hours playtime, lavos/lavos prime makes up almost 1000 hours.

I'd say the essential frames are the ones that let you farm faster and better. Like any perma-invis frame for hunting/fishing/mining, nova/volt for bounties, chroma for credits farming.

Maybe Excalibur umbra for hex calendar because it keeps giving me "kill a billion guys with abilities" and "kill a billion more with melee" like you got it buddy. But he's free.

The most desperate need of a rework is Nidus.

This frame simply does not function in 90% of missions, and even then he completely breaks if your squadmates are killing enemies

Cool design concept but its complete and utter trash for anything except long duration solo survival (which many other frames are better at anyway)

Like seriously, I'd MUCH rather play Oberon or Banshee than this trash. At least their kits aren't completely useless if you have any allies trying to complete the mission

He can get 100 stacks easily in 5-10 seconds with insatiable augment and high strength.
So unless teammates are doing sevagoth levels of nuking, you can still maintain your stacks.
The problem with Nidus is that he's just too immobile in a game where you're on the move a lot.
His 3 needs to make it where the linked enemy follows him.
And Nidus's infested grass/patch area needs to scale with range, cause currently it's stuck at a fixed 7 meters. Which is not a lot of space to work with.
Forcing you to hunker down most of the time.
His 2 needs to be recastable and the enemies need to not get stuck on doors or whatever with it.

I personally am not a fan of the direction rebecca has been taking the game lately (she hired some romance novel writer to make an online cybersex chat simulator and 1999 has been pretty sloppy in general besides)
if you just want to grind and make numbers pop up, yeah sure. if you want to get invested for the long term story and lore and such, just move on

I made a new account and found the easiest way to make plat was doing conservation in open world areas, then trading in the tags for mods and selling them.

It's not super high plat income but its an easy 100plat/day at MR10 and can certainly go along way before you're able to move onto more lucrative farming methods

the standing (rep) limit is 16k + 500 per MR, per day so not too bad. I would farm relics from Hepit (Void) and crack those to sell the rewards personally. each Hepit run only takes like a minute and there's only a 6% chance you won't get one (Aya instead). should be a reliable stream of plat to start with and you might even get some decent starting gear. you could also leech ESO for radiants and lato/braton vandal parts to sell

Lavos is tanky enough he can do basically anything that isn't level cap and doesn't have to worry about energy economy.
Excalibur is one button easy for casual content
Oraxia has all kinds of fun mobility tricks, limited stealth, and immunity to knockdown
Yareli is cute.

Voruna's nuke is from her status spread on augmented 1+2, the other thing was probably just qol since her 4 is a flex slot as a result of having lazy bad animations and just being a worse version of her 2

As an actual melee frame she isn't quite comparable since that constitutes pressing 1 constantly for the bonus to your weapon which is less effective than using her 2 like atlas' punches basically since the invis keeps breaking and she's relatively squishy. It (1) does make you jump which was kind of funny for slam attacks before but basically anyone can do the same buffs with Wrathful Advance
Might be interesting with a vortex + hunt zaw or something if you wanted to offload utility there, I've been using Oraxia's pistol similarly

The other relatively active frames I can think of from the original question are Oraxia (8s passive fun version of saryn) and Lavos (help)

I was using a shitty Khora build, which is mainly built around surviving. Still died a couple of time. I hate the Vamp shit that follows you around in the first mission. Second mission I can't spam my skills so I can't shieldgate. If I want to then I need to step out of Flare's range, and because people are retarded I have to go near him again so he doesn't keep losing health. Third mission was the easiest.

AoE weapons, especially full auto AoE weapons were a mistake.
Whenever I take any other weapon no matter how fun I just feel like I'm LARPing, like yeah it's cool to mow down enemies with a rifle or blast them away with a shotgun but it's basically crippling yourself.
It's one thing when the stronger weapon is even 20% better or something than other options, it's ridiculous when in the same time it takes a normal weapon to kill one enemy, an AoE one will already wipe out an entire room and move on.

Taking anything that doesn't have AoE is like stealth or even doing some slow RP walk, it's just pretending to feel cool while having zero actual reason to.

no need to rock the arcane aura except as a flex now, warframes come with two arcanes slots apiece built in.

levelcap is the enemy levelcap, 9999. lot of players prioritize builds that go for levelcap because the endless fissure rewards keep stacking the longer you go, especially for stuff like sp void cascade which is the meta plat farm.

armorstrip is armorstrip, taking away all enemy armor to just raw HP.. trinity has an augment for her 3rd that at something like 160% strength is a full armor strip, it used to be essential in the past due to some armor scaling jank where even 98% armor strip still left the enemy at like 90% damage reduction, so the leap from 90% DR to 0% was huge. now its more of a nice to have than a need to have, no complaints on a dps increase imo. DR is damage reduction, trinity with 160% strength gives 75% damage reduction to allies on her 4 which is really nice, especially if they already have good survivability from shieldgating or adaptation/rolling guard. also applies up to 50% DR to defense targets and heals them, which is really nice if you get her for ETA/EDA and have to contend with a defense mission.

When armors were big but the meta changed over time.
Then Corrosive kept getting hampered or a limit of stacks then armor got colossal so people just started using Viral + Hunter Munitions because Slash procs ignored armor.
As it is now the armor values are more manageable, so you don't use Corrosive unless you got 2 green shards for total strip. Usually going Viral + Heat is better now since the health itself is bigger and Heat can deal multiple stances.
You use Viral + Heat or Viral + Hunter Munitions if the weapon has a really low status but good crit chances (or a mode that it loses Status chance)

that is mathematically not true, right now dr is capped at 90% with 2700 armor, before it could reach ~500k+ armor giving something like ~99.95% dr and they didn't increase health that much

It's a relatively old weapon at this point so you won't have trouble picking one up for 20 - 30p with a base % of 25. The greater the elemental percentage bonus, the high prices will go. You trade them in your Dojo's Crimson Branch, note, Kuva/Tenet weapons can only be traded once, so if you buy from someone else, you can't retrade it later.
Just keep an eye on prices for a while on WFM and you'll likely get a decent percentage for a reasonable price that won't break the bank.
