One could play around, get a 4k monitor with a 1080p high fps mode and abuse the scaling to render at 1080p with the same settings to get some more fps I guess. Is CB the most weapon skill heavy weapon? Load Shells is a must, Rapid Morph feels good enough both offensively and defensively so you probably want it, Offensive Guard is fantastic too, and of course, critboost and some sharpness management since that axe churns through sharpness AND blocking also eats at it.

No, it isn't. You should be prioritizing Critical Boost 5 just like basically everyone else if you're using a raw one. If you're ele it's different and more arguable in that you want sharpness shit, load shells, offensive guard, and the rest on ele boost shit, but the rest is whatever. Imagine a mode in a custom map, with 5 arena-like zones in a row. There are multiple escalations. Each arena has 1 or 2 random monsters, with modifiers applied (like small monsters spawning, plants that limit movement and slowly expand, etc). Every level you clear, you get to choose a buff for that run, from a selection of 3 random ones from a pool. The faster and better you play, the more points you get. If by the end of level 4 you have enough points, you unlock the 5th and final arena and fight a unique boss.
Every time you win, you get skill points that you can use to gain permanent passive buffs for that type of escalation or unlock from buffs/powers that are added to the pool. The escalation is extremely hard the first times you clear it, since you have very little buffs, but slowly becomes more manageable the more you play it, on top of giving you more powers/buffs to find and experiment with.

So not only each escalation has general endgame rewards and the gear of the unique boss to craft, but it contains a small roguelike progression in itself, which is very important when they drop the Heroic version of that escalation, which is MUCH harder.

For me it's not about a different weapon but about switching to a different kind of weapon. Like going from horn to hammer to great sword is fine because they're all slow. Going from a slow weapon to a fast weapon feels like hitting the monster with a leaf and going from fast to slow feels like I'm moving through mud until I readjust
