Hook alone is arguably more difficult to use than the rest of Junker Queen's kit. I think trap usage, hooking around corners, body blocking, and slingshotting are all more difficult to use consistently compared to Junker Queen's kit. I think Roadhog's space control playstyle is more complicated than Queen's rushdown playstyle. Queen is very simple character, there's no real basis for her being "more skillful" than Roadhog other than people disliking Roadhog's design and her spread being a little tighter. Disliking Roadhog's design is valid, it's pretty annoying and was extremely oppressive in OW1.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't think it matters that much. Overwatch has stagnated, yes, but it's retaining what it has. People aren't leaving anymore. Overwatch is an old game now and it's had a very rough life. They aren't ever going to get close to its peaks ever again, there's no point in trying.
We're now in a really fun and comfy era, I recommend enjoying it while we have it. The developers are involved with the community, the content cycle is consistent now, seasons are actually somewhat worth it now, we're getting multiple fun brand-collaborations a season too. Things are cool now.

I don't know if I'd agree with the take that people aren't leaving anymore. We're at what, half of the total players we saw come with season 9? And this is with new heroes and a brand new moba sloppa mode to bait in the audiences too. People are gonna stay for sure but to say no one is leaving is just false.
Ultimately if you enjoy the game it doesn't really matter, but I just find funny to see people still to this day dismiss the steam charts as if they weren't representative of the game's overall status (not total, but just an approximation). Honestly I think hero shooters in general ran their course, don't get me wrong this game is barely scraping by thanks to its own retarded decisions but what other hero shooter games are there? Paladins is dead, deadlock isn't even really out yet and is barely played by anybody, rivals is the most popular hero shooter currently and it struggles with player retention, Obviously it was never going to maintain 600K+ players on steam but it dropped from having over 300K peak players in the first 5 months after launch to around 160K players now and if thats the most popular I think this genre is dying a slow death.

I do think your final sentence is misinformed, though. /owg/ isn't dead because the game is THAT dead. We have had to deal with an insane volume of bad actors. I haven't spent any money on Overwatch since I bought the first bundle. While I like the brand content, and I think the newest seasons have been fun, I'm genuinely just enjoying the gameplay right now. I think balance is OKAY right now (hate that orisa and ramattra are still the meta but the DPS and support meta is pretty chill right now) and I like the variety of gamemodes. Some days I play Stadium, some days I play 6v6. I had a 5v5 tank phase last week. The options are really adding a lot to the game for me.

I agree with you, but hero shooters have always been somewhat niche. While TF2 was at its peak most FPS players were in Halo and CoD lobbies. Personally, Overwatch was my first hero shooter after being a Halo lifer before that.
All we can do in the end is enjoy our little niche and appreciate that we have young and passionate developers that are willing to fight for us and keep the game moving forward.

Shooter with abilities will always be a fun combination. People are just tired of Overwatch because they have been playing it for 10 years (and are still hardstuck plat). See how much hype rivals got? Despite its obvious flaws lots of people played it because it was fresh and fun. It's weird. Going from personal experience and checking https://steamcharts.com/app/2357570#All Inmediatedly after OW2's steam release the game saw a cliffdrop decline in playerbases and seems to have stabilized at around 33k and actually saw a very gradual increase in player numbers afterwards through the year, peaking at around season 9 with 60k players, almost the double from that initial drop, although never quite reaching the launch numbers of 75k. However afterwards the game has entered a slow but steady decline, with the only peaks seem to have been brought by stadium and perks i believe? Both of which were quickly folllowed by another respective drop in player numbers. Currently, the game has the least concurrent active player numbers it's ever had, with a 29k peak today.

Matchmaking is total garbage because of their progression based ranks and frequent resets. There is the usual swapping based hero shooter problem where everyone starts on fun heroes but is expected to swap until nobody has fun. Tanks and supports are just boring in that game.
