It bothers me because there's no reason to make it like this but for the sake of visual distinction. The Shock Rifle isn't so bloated for the barrel, and the gigantic size box notch doesn't fit the Covenant aesthetic at all but arbitrarily has to be there because the Shock Rifle had it. If the intent is to make it some heavy weapon, whatever, but it's.. literally just the Covenant Carbine but fucking ugly because of its baseline animations.

It's important to have the correct mindset about campaign v multiplayer. That being that a true Halo game is a campaign experience first and foremost.
I'd be perfectly fine with the CE remake having firefight or some other PvE mode as its "multiplayer" offering for this reason.
Halo CE/1 had multiplayer thrown in the game in the last few months of development for the same reason any multiplayer was in a console game at the time, it was just expected to be there. The campaign WAS the game, and the multiplayer was extra. Now, it did turn out to be really good and pretty addicting, but it's important to understand that this existed in mostly a party game atmosphere. Yes, there were comp tournaments, but they are not representative of the average Halo CE multiplayer session.
Halo 2, or really rather Xbox Live, changed this, and set this unrealistic standard of Halo multiplayer being the face of the series. It was never meant to last, but it stuck, even as CoD 4 and onwards drained the popularity 3 years later.

tl;dr
A PVE-only game is sorely needed at this point to correct this wrongdoing and artificial ballooning of Halo's multiplayer to be its core identity.

PVP is the only reason Halo got as big as it did.

Infinite gets compared to Reach a lot here as far as overall quality experience goes but I think there's a big difference.
Reach is a constant influx of annoying shit you can't avoid even if you're managing to have fun at the same time.
Infinite's core gameplay meanwhile is actually pretty great. There is a bunch of stuff in the game I really don't like (the campaign, the store, the season pass model, the customization) but it's much easier for me to ignore all of that. I'm not trying to cope. I genuinely have a lot of issues with huge parts of the overall Infinite package, but I think it's easier to ignore the parts of the package that I dislike than in Reach where it's all mixed into the core experience, if that makes sense.

I genuinely do not understand the hype around the Falcon. it was a deathtrap in Reach and it'll be more of a deathtrap now with shock weapons existing.
Then again I wasn't 8 when Reach released so I have no "wow I got home from school and played Reach!" connections like most of the current fanbase seems to have.

The Falcon was potentially very powerful, but the the DMR was simply too dominant and it required for the Falcon pilot's team to completely dominate the map to be effective. With Halo 2-3's health system, it could be a really good vehicle.
