A good amount. If you aren't running wit cards in the deck you need to gamble on when it's time to rest or wit. Usually if i'm just below 50% I'll train wit instead and then next turn I have a 0-6% fail training then I'll fully rest.
Ideally you want to be balancing yourself out at around 1/3 or 1/4 of your energy remaining before rest so a high roll of +50/+70 isn't then wasted if you get an energy support or eating event at the same time.

Umamusume honestly made me realize how bored I was of other games. Yeah, the better rates and better gibs are super nice, but those games keep trying to be more than what they are, and uma is entirely honest with what it is, it's refreshing.

I posted this yesterday, couple of points that I'm working on for a better one:
-1k stam is definitely overkill, a good number is probably 900 or so if you're running two gold recoveries
-Straightaway skills may proc on the opening straight, this is really bad for consistency because you want these skills to proc on the final straight instead
-BUT late/ends don't benefit from corner speed skills because the skills will 100% proc too early on the track
I might just give up on the Goldship strategy and build a Maruzensky as a carry instead to be honest, seems way more consistent

Assuming 1200 speed, 800 power, and 400 guts on a 2400 meter track, then 1000 stamina flat is the absolute borderline to start your last spurt at full effectiveness and not run out of gas before you hit the finish line
This is assuming you don't get rushed or debuffed or get unlucky on your wit checks to conserve stamina
800 stamina + 1 gold recovery is essentially the same thing but is naturally more inconsistent because you might get shot by the 20%~ chance to not activate it, made even more RNG dependent if you're using something like Breath of Fresh Air that can activate at a useless time
So basically if you want to insulate yourself as much as possible you either go 1000 stamina + a gold recovery, or 800 stamina + 2 gold recoveries, preferably three to account for RNG fucking you up the ass
Going higher on guts can help you edge out stamina requirements though, if you can somehow get to 600 guts without skimping on your other stats then you'll basically be impossible to fuck over

ZZZ keeps trying to be experimental, which is nice, but has ultimately led to a loss of identity. Instead of bettering systems like tv mode or expand upon daily systems like the coffee shop, they've just gone and worn them down to absolute nubs.
What I first liked about ZZZ was that it was different from GI (didn't play) and HSR (played for about a month). But as time went on, ZZZ because juuuust successful enough to where they wanted to bring the game in line with their others.
One of my absolute least favorite events was one called Into the Pale Wasteland, where they basically created a HSR level without any fucking detail at all, basically looks like a beta map. Little did I know was that that was the testing grounds for their 2.0 update, where the next big thing would be a HSR level but for real this time. Adding on other embarrassments like a temple management sim where you grind for pitiful rewards, a coffee shop where there's literally only a single option, and just a nothing story for what was supposed to be the anniversary update, it all just accumulated into an experience that I no longer wanted to participate in.
Simply, the game was uninspired.

Yeah, Guts training statistically gives you the most stats, in exchange for costing the most energy
The main issue with it is that the current standard strategy, spamming Speed training as much as possible, is effective because it gets the training up to lv5 really quickly, which gives like 1.5x returns that then get further multiplied by your support cards friendship bonuses, rainbows, etc - naturally, spending turns clicking Guts instead will go against that, and you only want Guts up to a certain level (500-600~) before hard focusing other things
But if you can balance your training schedule out to still get everything else you need, then there are much worse things than clicking Guts once in a while
Shoving freebie Matikanetannhauser into your deck isn't terrible if you want to try for high Guts, because she gives a massive +55 initial stat bonus while also having good all-around stats that make her useful when she supports non-Guts trainings
