You can get there without ruining the gameplay. In every other game that doesn't have CoD style movement faggotry, the really good players typically pull out other skills from their repertoire and do things average players wouldn't even think of. Sliding around on your ass isn't "skill." if a player wants a totally vanilla experience then they can never be sure they are getting it unless they play quick play, but in quick play you cant guarantee that you will stay in the same server/lobby between matches
or you can make your own un-official vanilla portal server but that has to compete with every other player made server and other players have no way of knowing if your server is vanilla, they would just have to take your word for it.

if bf never had a server browser or official servers for each region you "might" have a point but they have been in the game and have been an expected feature up until very recently so the conversation just seems silly and almost like gaslighting

If there's only enough players to fill one lobby of a game mode, the its better I just wait for that lobby to find a slot like before. Getting forced into a quickplay lobby with 1 person is stupid as it tells me nothing about the lobbies. I don't care about server browser because I'm just going to use this game like a sexdoll and toss it out once it gets too dirty. Games these days are not meant to last, there's no reason to 'main' this game once you progress and unlock everything which I suspect will only take a couple months. Frankendice is incapable of putting out quality updates judging by V and 2042, BF1 was the last hurrah of decent post-launch support. They want Assault to the dedicated farming class and being "tip of the spear" without any utilities unlike the other classes so they gave the class the option to carry 3 guns.
It's kinda similar to how Assault in BF1 was supposed to be the 'shock trooper' class via constantly pushing objectives and being close to the enemies with his SMGs, but at least Assault in that game had a form of utility by making him the anti-vehicle class with the rocket gun, dynamite and AT grenade.

I can get why vertical kick is a somewhat hesitant thing to add as its likely very easy countered with mouse as the guy showed but probably a bit harder on controller.
But even without that you can see that the guys examples of countering kick still had his gun fire all over the place and even proper bursts had a wide area even at that short range.
If you were to do the same tests with 6's guns they're all pretty much land in the same bullet hole I bet.

4 is the obvious choice because it's arguably the best game with a somewhat healthy population.
Imagine a supply and demand chart where one axis is quality and one is population. 4 is your best bet. You could argue 3 is a better game in ideal population conditions but it's just so depleted compared to 4.
4 will also best prepare you for 6.
