I agree with you on that. I watched them whine until the complexity left every job I enjoyed. Now everything's on a 2 minute clock and feels boring as shit. But healer feels even MORE boring as shit than even the dps jobs, because there's just not a lot to really manage.

I think that other guy is right. The one who said encounter design would have to change. But I'd take it a step further and say that for healing to feel good in all content again, they'd have to change the entire game's philosophy toward party synergy. This is something barely anyone wants. I'm not even going to pretend like it's a popular idea. But letting healers manage things like group mana, weakness debuffs, mitigation CDs, party resources (like skill CDs), and so on, would make healing feel way more supportive than it does currently. Paradoxically, despite XIV raiders loving content that punishes them with a reset for 1 person's mistake, they all balk at the idea of their actual performance/rotation ability being affected by a healer in their group. I think a lot of people really just want to be left alone to do their 2m pattern on their memorized script, and that's fine; I just won't heal unless I'm horny or something.

I don't heal because it's the opposite of boring. It's stressful and annoying as fuck. Nobody in this fucking game knows how to play or wants to learn, and their shit playing keeps me anchored on dps checks and even healchecks (nobody fucking mitigates, and they all get hit by EVERYTHING) for so many attempts. I played with good players a few times while their main healers were away, and the difference was like night and day, but even with the good players it was just boring. I picked a DPS last year and I've had so much more fun. The enrage wipes barely happen anymore, and someone's always slapping addle on the boss because it's me, I'm the one slapping addle on the boss. Fuck healing. This community doesn't deserve any healers. They're so shitty at the game, and the role is not even fun. Being a healer main is like volunteering to be the designated driver on every night out for your friends. While everyone else is having fun, you're just tagging along to make sure everyone arrives (in the case of fast queues) and gets through the night safely. Literal parent role. Boring as fuck.

By the time FT meetups were hosted in /xivg/, the content had been out for a little while. Anyone who actually wanted to do that content would have met the barrier to entry head on. But the meetups still couldn't fill and couldn't clear. Why? The simple truth is that most people simply didn't give a shit and/or saw the content as a waste of their time. And can you blame them? The rewards were majority garbage, or the opportunity to acquire and then sell an emote on a flooded marketboard full of bots and undercutters. The raid itself, while quite directable, could be sabotaged by a single man. What do you get when you mix "potentially punishing timewaster" with "unrewarding outcome"? You get nobody giving a shit. It will be the same for the deep dungeon unless they implement rewards people actually want, or make its difficulty give the impression that it isn't going to demand hours of their lives until they achieve total dance-memory perfection.
