I went back to Magik my first lord in s0 after lording Iron Man, Psylocke, Storm, Star Lord, Ultron and Emma and I struggle to figure out where she fits in a team. Eshego is a top 3 peni main. Peni in general is a great tank on the defensive side especially when she can shut off entire chokepoints or place her nest+ webs in a way where the grounded characters can't move in without touching them. However, the best characters in the game are all hitscans and fliers who do not care where her nest is. Her ult still is genuine dogshit UNLESS you connect 2-3 nest sources together then it can kill a luna/cloak through ult but only if the nests had some prep time to generate bots. Shields/walls also absorb the spiderbot damage instead of going around them. I'm general, she is great on certain maps that force close quarter spots but horrendous in open ones

Healing is braindead easy so if you fuck up literally everything else about the game, you still have decent HPS to offset the damage from the enemy. Even fucking up a healer ult will cost you a few seconds of healing ults at most or bait out a one-shot ult.

The problem is when the enemy realizes this and hard target the weakline which is when you are basically down to 5v6 which is why you want to do as much as you can to keep them alive from dives without compromising your role and unfortunuately, that usually means filling in as a healer or counter-diving.

If they are leeroy jenkins themselves to pieces charging the enemy then they are probably throwing the match and there's really nothing you can do about that.

The "performance" based ratings is shit and I've noticed that it doesn't take into account performance at all. I've been checking my teammate trackers out of curiosity and what I've noticed is that it's way too biased towards assists so support players that play assist hogs like cnd, rocket, jeff benefit way more from the system even if they aren't doing anything or are the reason you lost and keep climbing higher meanwhile good dps or tank players are punished with a 20-24 point loss or more while also having to work twice as hard to gain and maintain points. You can even abuse this with heroes from other roles that farm free assists without doing anything like thing or storm

I'm just getting back into the game. I was a S2.0 C3 top 50 Magik.
Magik's case kit is fine, her strength was that she was a versatile melee character that could function as an assassin, flanker, or "shy-brawler". Jack of all sub-roles, master of none. Because she's Melee, she is pretty much by default always going to be weaker than heroes like Hela, unless they're nerfed to the ground. That's just the nature of the game. When they make Melee heroes "viable", the reddit support main hoards whine, as in the case with Spidey and Iron Fist and I guess BP now (I don't know if it's the case in high ranks, right now I'm D3 climbing from P3 starting yesterday, and everyone seems to ban BP).
Her biggest weakness now, in my short time back, is the introduction of more and more flying characters. As I've stated many times here, I'm against the idea of _hard counters_ existing. Soft counters are fine and inevitable.
Right now in D3, I can handily outplay enemy Iron Mans for example, but I know this will not be the case when I arrive at high ranks. In that case it really is up to my other DPS to deal with them. In that sense the game will no longer feel like it's in my hands.
Back when I played in 2.0, there was also never a situation in which you would think "damn I wish we had a Magik". Psylocke was a better flanker assassin, Iron Fist a better brawler, Spidey likewise also a better flanker. In order to beat a Hela or Widow or Hawkeye as Magik you have to giga-try hard and giga-outplay them, because those heroes will always be fundamentally stronger.
But Magik is still the only character I enjoy playing. Right now from what I can tell I can still play her into pretty much any comp if I'm sufficiently good. The day I can no longer do this is the day I quit a second time.

No they don't. Solo players are consistently used to fill in missing spots because it speeds of queue times and some spots cannot be filled with stacks (like a 5 stack).

Stacks also completely mess with match quality because

I think he's fairly fine as is but there's a few things I'd like to see him get that I don't think would be too powerful but would bump him up in viability a bit I think. For one make his tracers last longer when applied, gives you more freedom on when you want to engage onto someone and dip into combat and also gives you more time with how you want to setup kills. His overhead swing in the air takes a long time to come out and hampers your overall dps output so shortening how long it takes to actually come out would be nice too, hell even adding more ways to store it so you're not forced to do a swing cancel a lot of the time to properly do burst combos. It'd be nice if his pull stunned people for a brief duration, lets say .5s upon pulling someone to you as enemies can react the moment they get pulled, which means you generally reserve it for pit kills, pulling into the team or isolating targets who have poor 1v1 potential as opposed to being able to isolate and properly duel a lot of the cast.
