Tekken has never had a hype top 8. The way the game is designed at its core with optimized gameplay at high level, easy baby combos, and "small tekken", it will NEVER EVER EVER be hype. Maybe fun to play at intermediate, but it will never be consistently hype.

For Tekken to be fun there has to be at least one player with over 115 IQ. If both players are dumb then the gameplay has no mind games and it's mostly randomness and spacing. If one player is smart then they can propose mind games and the dumb player has to adapt. It's sort of how a slave can be productive with oversight but not on their own.
