This patch killed my last bit of hope, but I won't be dropping the game.
I have fun with Granblue when I play it, this patch is likely not abhorrent enough to change that.
We still have (confirmed) content until early 2026 with Ilsa, as I mentioned I'm not hoping for anything, but it will be at least interesting to see what they pull, if not for the whole game, at least with Meg and Ilsa.

I was not expecting a balance patch at all and the changes are minimal. I will continue having fun with the game. Hopefully BC gets nerfed someday.

I don't play Abel so can someone explain his nerfs? It reads like buffs to me except for taking away one H fireball grounded extension in his combos. He should still be able to do Step and then Kick in the corner to get link SSBA. Losing access to two Steps in midscreen probably sucks though.

this is the baseball bat swing. I think this ties into an earlier change they did making the non sweet spot swing wall bounce the opponent. they want 2B to bait spotdodges and rolls by holding the bat longer and I suspect hitting the knuckle after it bounces will automatically beat roll / spotdodge but we'll have to see.
this also means that holding the swing longer doesnt make her lose pressure anymore. so yeah, slight buff to her pressure here, but honestly you should always jump or DP (if it reaches) this move anyway.

Back in the day, we had game versions almost disappear, only being kept alive by hobbyists preferring certain versions due to how bad content was between them (thinking mainly of Darkstalkers). Look at the chart: they all have high overall winrates in the top section (green = good). Galleon, on the other hand, is near the bottom with red numbers all over, so yeah, he's kinda trash competitively. If you're not super confident in your skill yet, picking a character with strong matchups like those four can help a lot.

It's exactly because they announced Strive 2.0 that GBVSR Season 3 is still possible.
Their staff won't have to work on an entire new game, and so they could still allocate some of them to help Cygames with their game.

Now what's left is to know whether Cygames think Rising is worth the investment or not. There are some clues telling us that they'll keep supporting it, but no real confirmations. To me, it's clear that FKHR enjoys working on it but as he said in an interview, that decision is not up to him.

H tp has a hitbox if close enough to opponent. It's + on block.
Cagliostros will do jump H tp to punish throw techs. If you crouch the H tp it will not hit and you can anti air her on the way down.
If you block H tp standing you either block the jump normal or DP out
There is also air U DP but it's rarely used. You can hit her out of it, or spotddodge it and anti air her on the way down

Thinking about it, being able to get install from a regular autocombo and 22U is dumb. Getting it from a crouching opponent was good, because it meant that you punished a big mistake. Raw command grab is risky, but really fun and the calculated recklessness fits Vira.

Unblockables are okay according to the devs. Versusia, Sandy, Lowain, and Vira all have them. There's zero reason Nier shouldn't be able to raging strike while desu is in play. They need to let her RS when desu is on the field but they can keep the no RS downside when she's cooling down.
