A lot of creatives are like that, get into the habit of writing your ideas down the instant you have them. Remember, short term memory only lasts for around 20 seconds before whatever idea you had is discarded or stored for long term use. More then likely discarded though as you have found out yourself.

There's an in-universe reason why. I think making plushies of the Lightners would directly conflict with the themes the game is trying to present.
Having a Lightner as a doll to twist, crush and destroy would be a bit ironic, considering they're portrayed as to be on a lower layer of reality, and are considered "alive" (as the narrate illustrates to the best of its ability)

It happened to me with a fave from another franchise to the point where I got so attached to him and was so sad he wasn't real that I actually cried sometimes and almost got back into a depressive rut. I had to force myself to detach from him, it was a long and painful process that took a few months but after I managed to do so I swore to never indulge the way I did with him again.
Now I more or less force myself to do something else instead of daydreaming if I catch myself doing it, and keep myself as equally as interested in a rotation of characters I like so I don't hyper focus on a single one of them and end up replicating what happened last time.

My imagination is one of the main things that's kept me going in times and places when I couldn't just whip out a pen and paper and draw, without it my patience and tolerance for boring and inane bullshit wouldn't be so developed. If it were to disappear, I'd feel like and become absolute garbage of a person, knowing I have nothing to fall back on in times of need that can't be taken from me. These are related Asgore was trying to figure out why Dess vanished but fell into conspiratorial thinking and without any evidence and suspicious circumstances was kicked off the force.
