I think there's actually a lore basis for this. I'm pretty sure there's mention of a borderline superhuman race and most hunters are their descendants.

Wilds is so close to being the best MH game ever made, it has the best selection of monsters ever, but your hunter is so overtuned that they can't do anything to you. It has the best looking armors in the series, but you never really need to worry about armor selection. It has the biggest most sprawling maps with the most involved life, but you never really need any of it because you have an infinite item box and infinite sharpness. There's also the autorunning chicken that nullifies the entire gameworld.

It's a sad, sad state of affairs.

If you put that work in you might not even need Evade Window. So is it me or is Blast really really weak in Wilds? Compared to other options I mean. As a test I made a pair of Blast dual blades with as much fucking Blast as possible. I'm talking I had more Blast than anyone would realistically ever use with the purpose of seeing the maximum amount of procs I could get during a hunt after diminishing returns. I then went and fought Lagia and got 10 procs. So 1500 damage from Blast procs right? Seems solid enough, but when you compare it to the competition something seems real fucking off here. For example with paralysis it might only trigger 2-4 times per hunt but when it does the monster is going to get absolutely fucking molested, but this one is much harder to gauge. What I'm more interested in here is how Blast compares to Whiteflame Torrent. Whiteflame Torrent assuming maximum uptime is going to trigger once every 3-12 seconds for 50 damage. This of course is only 1/3 of what Blast deals, but it happens with an ABSURD frequency. If you count Whiteflame procs during a hunt you'll easily double the damage you'll see if counting Blast procs. What makes this disparity even more drastic is that Zoh weapons also come with dragon element on them and while element doesn't add much damage, especially unless the monster is weak to it, it DOES add damage which makes Blast look even weaker by comparison. Am I missing something here? Why is Blast so far behind Whiteflame on paper? I feel like Blast needs either a damage buff or less diminishing returns because as is I have no idea why you would ever use a Blast weapon over a Zoh Shia one if your goal is just getting free damage procs.

You should practice him on his 6* version and really think about what you're doing wrong with whatever weapon you're using. I'd imagine bowgun users who aren't used to monsters having dangerous, fast strikes might struggle but I've hunted him with most other weapons and i'd say the rest all manage fine.

In terms of damage output, it's either the blast DB in 3u or the spiral slash in Sunbreak. In terms of feel, GU adept DB or Wilds DB. GU Wolf's Maw also makes you feel like you're having an orgasm too

Don't bother trying to hunt him with loads of perfectly used counters right away. Focus on staying in red bar, and most importantly, try to hangout under his wings while striking his legs or wingarms if there is an opening. Always roll diagonally towards him if he's in his frenzied state and he's using frenzy explosions. Focus on using Foresight Whirl and FSS to evade shit which is about to hit you.

Once you have hunted him without dying and begin to get his attack timings, you can start trying to counter his more obvious hits. Hopefully you're using quicksheath.

Honestly I don't know, Clutch claw was a obvious upgrade from World formula and Scrolls was a solution for more variety in gameplay for Rise, now for Wilds I feel like the combat is so complete that just the additions for new attacks would be nice.
But doing the basic is alright too, releasing with great performance for poor people is already enough for me, would make the conversation around Monster Hunter less toxic.
