When you finish a career, you have a base chance to get a white spark for any skill you had, which is increased by 10% multiplicatively for every parent and grandparent that also have it.

Gold = 40%, White = 25%, Double Circle White = 25%

This means if you have Swinging Maestro and both parents and all grandparents have a Corner Recovery spark, you have a 40 * 1.1^6 % chance to get a Corner Recovery spark or 70.86%.

Because of this people will do loops of great great and great grandparents to get tons of the same white sparks when aiming to make a specific uma with specific sparks for CM.

Just pumping speed and power doesn't reliably give you enough stamina to clear non-career races longer than Mile, you need to take a stamina card for consistency. Guts is also still important and will only be more important in the future. At the moment it affects your stamina drain in the final spurt and (apparently) how easily you lose in a NECK situation.

You need stamina to still complete the race, your uma will peter out by last spurt or even before then if your stamina is garbage. And not every uma has the same stat growth of getting 20% innate bonuses for stamina like Golshi and McQueen do.
What you're talking about only works if you're giving your umas godlike 3-star legacies and lucky April procs to where you can ignore those stats for most of your URA playthrough, and either playing for fun/missions or aiming to make a good uma for PVP.

If you're looking to waste your time on this game with the pulls you got and you hit a Statlimit that's something that you can focus on tough.
Unlike veterans you actually want to run which get outdated and obsolete with new releases high tier parents and sparks are more evergreen, so it's something you cna invest time into even if you don't have 5 mlb'd cards right now.
