it's completely different, you're expected to lead groups in dungeons, call for cc, and your job is to keep mobs off the healer and then the dps. playing dps is like being a retarded kid going to the playground, playing tank is like being the adult making sure the retarded kids in the playground don't hurt themselves.

playing with randoms in dungeons will make you loathe the average dps player, people will be attacking the wrong target, then getting aggro so you either try to out threat them but risk losing aggro on the rest of the mobs, or just let them take a bunch of damage making the healer have to drink after every pull. you'll also have to deal with people who think they should be doing pulls instead of you, you need to put them in their place quickly or kick them. puller is fine if you are coordinated but sometimes some retard with main character syndrome starts pulling without any communication, when group isn't ready etc

you either have to be a fucking saint or masochist to enjoy tanking in random groups.

but the benefit of tanking is that you can be really picky with your groups and reserve whatever the fuck you want, especially if you make friends with a healer.

maybe it's different on epoch but this is my experience from classic, turtle and anniversary.

They decided, after launch, to rebuild the game and make major changes to try allow more people. It is now back in development and testing. Realistically there is no way of knowing how long this will take, especially as they are not good at comunicating or don't seem to know themselves, or they are coping that they can fix it easily.
