Babies first TWWH. I'm starting my first Realms of Chaos campaign and I'm not sure who to pick. Most of the factions seemed to be locked despite owning the trilogy? Birdman here looked cool but I find his Winds of Magic quite confusing, my 2nd choice was the Seductress who I have not played yet. Are these noob friendly?

Grand Cathay is the easiest race for beginners because they don't have any major weaknesses, both of the ones you picked are strong but have more specific playstyles

They are both easy. Bird would always have enough mana so dont bother with the Winds. Slaanesh: use your cav to attack troops from behind then go back (move like a circle) then repeat. This way you would have like + 99999% dmg. This is one of the most fun faction. Army should be a bit cav focused. If you played LoL/Dota/Starcraft it would be easy for you (play your cav like you are playing as assasin character).

N'kari is very micro intensive, I wouldn't recommend as your first playthrough. Bird is easier, but you still need to know a bit of what you're doing. I would recommend to start with cathay and play at Easy/easy difficulty.

The Sea Peoples are the Mongols/Huns/Chaos of the game and will invade at some point, altough some of them are present at the campaign start

I just finished my first Rome 2 campaign as Macedon and holy shit why do the victory conditions need to always be so large?
Around turn 60 I had so much money that I just spammed out armies and threw money at every single issue the campaign had to throw at me so it got very boring very quickly. PO wasn't even close to an issue since you'd think it'd be a problem with large empires conquering shit every turn, but when at most you'll get like -30 from buildings, but the resource buildings easily give you 50+ when you get enough of them so it never matters. Corruption is a joke because of this too.
The late game units didn't need to be stuck behind so much research either because I won my campaign long before they even mattered, but I will say they were super fun to use and having 150 armor/morale and almost 100 melee attack on hoplites was a spectacle to watch.
The AI is completely slimy compared to other TW games which was the most irritating. NEVER did they want to fight fair and they would always sit right outside of my range specifically so they could take a random city 5 turns away and then die.
I'm not sure if I want to jump into Rome Remastered or try a steppe faction like Royal Scythia since cav spam looked fun and I enjoyed playing Parthia before this.

Yes. You have the strongest non-Seapeople roster so you're supposed to just doomstack, pick a direction and barrel forward. A secret about Dynasties is that the game's economy is totally broken and it takes an absurd amount of developed territory to generate enough food, but you get absurd resource bombs for every successful battle so as long as you are just marching in a direction and picking fights with everything in your path, you can run a huge food deficit and you'll still generate food from battles faster than you drain it. It's normal to have a huge per-turn food deficit, but as long as you keep winning battles your stockpile will increase.

Basically every settled faction plays like a horde economy. I can only assume it's this way because they ran out of time to balance the game's campaign and used post-battle rewards as a bandaid.

pretty much, I was fighting a lot of battles, but my enemies were developing faster than me and it got to a point where I had to start being more selective with my fights, and now it's kind of going in a downward spiral

as for the dick elves what I usually do since they're the first ones you usually encounter is go for the bottom research line since there's a bunch of +Dark Elves reputation bonuses in there which makes it easy to make peace with them. I usually kill tomb kings and the hag and whoever else is around there and gift them the territories surrounding the north and south of the witchwood so I don't have to bother coming back to defend it once its rebirthed. You can forego allying with them but everyone else in the west doesn't really like you much and I don't like dedicating resources to defending it there's so many other places to Worldroot to. By the time I make contact with the high elves I'm partyway through my top research line and they've mostly forgiven me for giving the dark elves so many gifts

You can buy bits of wood and stone here and there for settlement development but you literally cannot buy the thousands of units of food you need every turn. Nobody will sell it to you.
Part of the problem is diplomacy just being broken, with random shit like a -60 penalty to a deal value listed as "Other" and similar shit, but part of it is just the fact that the AI tries to realistically value resources in quantities that don't actually make sense for the game. In function, the AI overcomes this imbalance by cheating.

How do you overcome the fact that minor factions can sustain 4 full stacks with 0 food income while a full food-specialized province generates less than 1 stack's worth of food? It doesn't make sense until you fight and win a battle, and then you realize the game just gives you 5000 food every time you beat an AI shitstack, and as long as an army fights a battle every turn, it's upkeep is essentially free. Once you make that realization, the next realization is that more armies = more battles = more food, and as long as you have enemies to attack you can just keep raising new armies while your food income goes deeper into negatives. It's broken, but the problem is that the game's whole economy is so broken that you're actively punished for not doing this.

With the rats I almost always create a support army with poisoned wind mortars.

For the Dwarfs, the flamethrowers are particularly good once you open a breach wall, especially if you have a thane baiting enemy regiments inside with the ironbeard perk which gives him 75% fire resistence, burns everything around him effortless.

It's up to judgement. Not only the settlements, but also if it's full moon or an eclipse as both give you % more Dread from doing the ritual. It depends. I typically wait for either of these to occur before I do the ritual, and generally try to get every settlement, but sometimes you can't/don't want to like it takes too much time to reach the settlement, or it's a neutral faction you don't want to piss off yet. Try to ambush as much as you can, their regular stance is a stalking stance (can ambush on approach), but also their encamp is an ambush, too. And don't worry about bestial rage, it's always at max tier for me even when I take the -bestial rage end-of-battle reward, and am very often in encamp stance too. Battles just gives so much alone.

You just have to manual fight, Taurox and the minotaurs rape everything you start near so long as you support them with chaff.
On campaign the process goes as follows

Any units in particular you guys like that compliment Black Orcs? I know boar boyz (big 'uns) are good and recommended. Wondering if there's anything else you guys particularly like, perhaps some monster (like an Arachnarok Spider perhaps). And what are Greenskins' good choices for killing routers? Boar boys in my experience are pretty poor for it. I haven't tried squig hoppers for it but I estimate they'd be like boar boys, but I could be wrong. Or perhaps I be an ally to somebody to recruit a unit for it like warhounds.

Squig hoppers are your best bet thanks to poison+decemt speed, but even they're not great at it. Spider riders are nice but very mediocre outside of specific setups like Grom or Snagla buffs
If you really want something that bad just use wolf riders or ally for warhounds, but you're better off just adding to the pile of violence. I prefer rogue idols/giants since they do a good job of keeping roided out LL's in check once you get the tech that gives them daze attacks

Squighoppers are decent at killing routers, little better than I anticipated. They're nowhere near as good as hounds of course, but much better than most cavalry in the game (of which on average are terrible for it).

Zhatan and Astragoth both declared war on me at the same time, when I was about to start killing the minor Ogres down South. Took quite a while to kill Zhatan (he even had land in Cathay but he got wiped there by the time I wiped out the North-most of his settlements). Gifted a dark fortress to Vilitch to keep him off my back, we have no treaties. Gifted the waaagh settlement (after waaagh ended) to Kholek as a gift as he managed to solo Tamurkhan; something in my experience is very rare as he typically gets destroyed instead. I've been razing a lot more too which has been helpful for upgrades. I find I typically don't have enough scrap for what I want early-mid as Greenskins. Sacking Chorf settlements is batshit, too, I forgot how rich they are. Similar to sacking Dawi as their buildings are expensive.

Ironsides beat handgunners in nearly every single use case because of their passive.

Reload Skill is hard to measure in-game but just understand that basically ANY increase to reload skill SIGNIFICANTLY improves a ranged unit.

For a better value, mouseover the missile strength, don't take the card value, since that's an "averaged across X". It's easier to check number of entities times armor piercing damage + regular damage and comparing reload timers.

So Ironsides would be 60 shots of 17+5 damage every 7s, before passive; where Handgunners would be 90 shots of 17+5 damage every 13s.
By this alone, before Ironside passive is factored in, you can already see that Ironsides would be basically shooting twice (120 shots) for every handgunner volley (90).

- Handgunners deal 90x22/13 = 152 dps
- Ironsides deal 60x22/7 = 188 dps (217 with their reload buff active)

However do note that accuracy is another important stat. With Blackpowder Discipline on Ironsides get +40 accuracy, making them significantly better than Handgunners at actually hitting the target, especially at max range.

Every campaign in Pharaoh is ranged-focused because ranged units are overpowered but if you just want to access the best missile units money can buy ASAP, the only major faction that specializes in them is Troy. The playable Sea People both have very strong unique archers but they're overshadowed by the rest of their rosters also being super strong.

Crete has unique t5 archers that are arguably the best composite bows in the game (actually a stat clone of the Paleset ones). Any faction can access them by taking the capital and building its unique monument and since Crete is the convergence point of all the map's sealanes basically any coastal faction can go there early for it.

Finally the Nubian native roster has the best longbow in the game, which because it has a range advantage over the composite bows, also makes it the de-facto best ranged unit period. However since it's at the mouth of the Nile it's pretty impractical to go there and get them unless you start in the region (ie Memnon, Tausret).

I find my archers often can't shoot as the target is obstructed. Build military in your starting province, money elsewhere until you feel the need for military. Look for special resources, but feel free to ignore them until you have a grasp on general economy.
Agents should travel with an army unless you have an actual task for them.
Occupy most settlements unless your factioon has a bonus on sacking/razing or you need the money.
Don't feel bad, nobody starts perfect
