When you get the Libra curse event and then pay him to cure the curse you get a buff called Demon Plating that gives you more damage with anything you do, scaling based on how many runes you're holding.
If you get this, it is absolutely worth taking the Symbol of Avarice and cease leveling at 12(the stat softcap) to get more and more runes. It's something like 75% more damage at 400-500k runes held

Ranged enemy AI was nerfed. every single ranged enemy in the game had their accuracy/fire rate, and in some cases range, nerfed. I guess you would have had to actually p;lay on release to notice that all ranged enemies, multi boss fights, and godskins had their AI nerfed into the ground

Fromsoft doesnt actually put all of their changes in the patch notes, the patch notes they release publicly are for public relations. Which is why the radahn patch nerf will say "fixed a bug causes hitboxes to be larger than intended" and then the patch after that will say "reverted a nerf to radahns damage made last patch" despite last patch mentioning no damage nerf

You dont need that much FP. You should be using a shard or two to clear castle as fast as possbile, and the occasional bonus shard on tanky or early fieldbosses. Two shards on the last vendor are more than enough for any nighlord, provided your teammates aren't dead weight. Terra Magica is also mostly pointless, you should expect to be moving/dodging/keeping up with the boss and not trying to root yourself. HP up on ult, and Bleed/Dmg Up on ult are much better class relics.

For basic bitch enemies it's amazing assuming you're not already 2 shotting them like raider or wylder, revenant, recluse. For bosses the % it takes off their health is lower. Frost being better because it gives the boss a debuff that lasts and increases all incoming damage. (although again less than I think it does for normal enemies). Rot, frost, poison can all be be applied at the same time but that becomes a gearing ordeal and probably a dps loss if it's not as easy as weapon art->switch -> weapon art. He's not bad by any stretch he's just nowhere near the celing and even raider can contribute more to team dps by just shutting down the boss's movment much more often.

On day 1 I tried to go through all the camps I could. I was going to go for the large fort, but I didn't think we'd make it before the rains hit, so I just took us to the castle. We cleared the bottom boss and all but one of the trolls though. Never got the top boss.
I'd always heard you want to stay away from camps on day 2, so I tried to lead us through all the red bosses.
Level 12 might be fine but our damage seemed really bad and I in particular seemed to be dying extremely fast.

Having allies that somehow manage to do even less damage than me playing guardian, or allies that die faster than your ult is up to revive them.
You can maybe pull a clutch moment with him if your team has an unfortunate moment or your team is a little bad, but if your teammates are truly terrible he's the worst pick because you can't even just buckle up and dps shit down yourself.
Your roll is utter shit and almost anything that is actually threatening in the game anyway will have damage or status types to chip you through your shield faster than your underwhelming damage will kill them in trios scaling.

100% sure. you used to have to dodge or juke ranged enemies like the golems. now they miss 100% of the time as long as you keep moving. if you played on release you would have at least remembered radahn and how at the start you had to dodge the arrows as he shoots at you as you run to him, now you can just run to the side and they miss. The same AI that changed radahns arrow shot AI affected the entire game. Also look at limgrave before margit, there is a wild strikes scarab, on release that was a trap because the ballista would shoot at you from that far away

The secret to Guardian is to drop the shield when you load in and just equip regular str or quality weapons you do plenty of damage.
The shield just doesn't work in Nightreign, unless they make Guardian's shield reflect damage relic scale with his shield and do like 200-300-400 etc damage then it just doesn't work. As it stands the reflect does less than 100.

Guardian's skill is nice for CC during day 1/2 and Guardian's ult is a free ress on a short cooldown. Make sure you have a post damage restore relic equipped and you can commit to some pretty silly attacks and come out at the same health of 95% what you had vs you doing literally nothing with a shield.

There's also no diversity with Guardian shield playstyle, you run the charged halberd attacks generate storm and yes this makes Guardian do the most posture damage in the game by a mile and guarantees you aggro despite you doing low damage but you're forced into using halberds and nothing else.
Shield Guardian is also useless on literally every Nightlord.

I like playing rev because she has a standard elden ring playstyle with no gimmicks. Any weapon is viable (or equally bad), you can cast any spell, and you just roll like normal and try not to get hit.

That's still just a far worse raider in many ways.
Anything threatening that guardian's character skill ccs, raider just presses r1 on and infinitely stagger-locks. He has the rolls to actually dodge shit, retaliate to actually block AND stagger shit, and then one or two colossals rapidly pick up teammates anyway if need-be.
Having far more damage and objectively better defenses(roll and retaliate) aside from a bit of base stats is way better than just having a way to pick up 3-bars that likely aren't contributing shit or are gonna just die again anyway.

If you're out of stamina, the moment you get 1 stamina you can use Retaliate and landing the punch instantly refills the whole bar whether it was empowered or not.

Assuming you're getting hit while using retaliate, Yea. and if you stack that same relic effect with the "taking hits improves attack power" effect, he gets 10% + 15% more attack damage with anything he does. for a while after being hit.
