If Sonic is like a force of nature, Shadow is his dark side. The destruction that he leaves in his wake when he blasts through, carelessly. What he'd be like if he focused solely on reaching the goal without caring for what lies in his way. What would happen if he was restrained, shackled, controlled so that his destructive power could be weaponized.

Silver is the "Sonic" of the future. The Bad Future, where the world is at its end. But in spite of that, Silver remains as the last light of hope. Fighting for his dreams of an absolution.

Sonic is defined by speed. He is always on the move. But Silver moves everything else. His psychokinesis could be seen as taking that concept of "speed" and "movement", and projecting it outward. External.

Because of his circumstance, he doesn't have Sonic's life of endless adventure. He doesn't have Sonic's wisdom. He can't afford to be laidback and aloof, he can't afford not to care. So, he cares a lot. He cares too much. Sonic hates evil in all forms, but for Silver, it's a never ending war. If you're a threat to the future, if your actions condemn us all, then you're gonna have a bad time.

Sonic's peaceful world of blue skies and smiling face, is the fleeting fantasy Silver fights to preserve. And if the light side of chaos is creativity, then Silver's the one who will make that fantasy into reality. As long as Silver is around, the sun will rise again tomorrow.

After all, the sun is our source of light. The sun, "Sol". Blaze. That's why Silver and Blaze's partnership is so important. The world was ravaged by Iblis' flames, which is the raw power of Solaris. But the true Solaris wasn't the Flames of Disaster, but the Flame of Hope. That "Flame" is Blaze, and that's what gave Silver hope even if Blaze couldn't see it herself.

The thing is the whole idea that Sonic let them capture him doesn't actually fit in the game's plot where he blatantly gets mad and tries to escape. It sounds like a last minute addition to make Sonic sound cooler.

Deep inside of him is Sonic's life data, but written over it is Eggman's own coding to ensure that Metal remains a docile servant of a weapon, carrying out Eggman's will and ONLY Eggman's will.

They're both active. Blaze's soul is alight with flames, she is innately active and dynamic. But, Blaze is restrained. She is disciplined and strict, as an imperial princess should be. It was Silver who questioned what the point of it all is after beating Iblis, knowing full well Iblis is just gonna rise from its ashes again. It's Silver who questions whether or not killing one person to save the world is even the right thing to do, after Amy stood in his way. But each time, Blaze is the one that calms him down and clears his mind.

That's why I say Blaze is where Silver gets his "Hope". Blaze is the Flame of Hope, and thus the source of Silver's Light. It's what, theoretically at least, allows Silver to be as optimistic as he is no matter what, even though Blaze may fail to recognize it herself. But if you're living in a world ruined by a fire demon, and you're partner is a pyrokinetic just as driven to save the world as you are, that must give you a lot of hope in spite of the circumstance.

That's how I've always looked at it. If Chaos is... Chaos, then "Sol" = Harmony. Everything moving in perfect synergy. Like how the sun is the center of our solar system and our source of daylight. The enemy of Chaos is Order, the enemy of Harmony is Discord. The "Flame of Hope" embodies that. But after the Solaris Project, it was corrupted, creating the black shadow that became Mephiles the Dark... and turning the Flame of Hope into Iblis, the Flames of Disaster.

The raw power of Solaris burning without harmony, without reason. Just burning away at everything in its path till nothing is left. Meanwhile, Mephiles is like the smoke and ash creating dark clouds that completely block out the sun, casting everyone in eternal darkness. The Solaris Project's attempt to control time backfired (literally), turning their Sun God into two demonic entities that craved nothing more than absolute destruction of all time and space. Another example of mankind's hubris. They attempt to control chaos with order through science and industry... Only to cause discord in the natural harmony of the world.

That's why when Solaris was defeated down to its core, all that remained was that original Flame of Hope. In order to prevent everything that transpired, that flame had to be kept out of anyone's hands. So, Elise blew it out. In the new timeline, where they never tried to impose their will on the god they worshiped... Soleanna lives in peace.

This is the lesson that Sonic embodies, and taught to Chaos personally. Sonic knew that simply sealing Chaos away wasn't gonna solve the problem, so he went straight to the source and freed Chaos from the shackles that bound him inside. Now, Chaos is the peaceful guardian of the Chao he used to be, and went up into the sky with Tikal. Sonic Battle implies Chaos will return in times of crises, but ultimately, the Embodiment of Chaos who controls the Emeralds is Sonic, the one the world truly needs.

Correction. Light Mobius Sally was. Ian did not like that specific continuity and considered them different characters (Particularly because of Tails and Mina) so he wrote out the possibility that it could be one universe by killing off Locke earlier than his stated death.
This argument could also be flipped onto Satam Sally, since when someone challenged him using her, he then said Sally wouldn't wait for windnic.
