It's really the ultimate challenge in the D&D realm. There is nothing else out there. No other game, definitely not the newest release, and no other Baldurs Gate 2 mod either. SCS simply doesn't cut it if you are looking for a challenge.

If you actually played the game and did the quest you find out the guy never did anything with his wife, he's 90+ years old and as he puts it "has a spent wick", so Keldorn lost it over nothing. Just a kind old man who felt sorry for the family Keldorn left perpetually abandoned. This route is also the one where you get maximum experience whereas you get nothing if you just hand William over to the courts without getting an explanation. Also very glad I put the grenade launcher on Blood's M16, one blast + a molotov took out about 6 very tough melee guards in a hall as they were heading out to slaughter the escapees. Still enjoying JA3 but I wish there was more in the non-combat area. If Disco Elysium is on one end of an axis, JA3 is on the other. There are plenty of decisions you can make and who you have with you can play a fairly big role, and doing things in certain orders can effect things, and there's a bit of banter and so on... But I'd love it even more if that stuff was deeper still.

That's asking for a lot though, but someday I'll have my perfect CRPG.

As much of a KOTOR 1 hater I am, I would never say that it's bad. It's just formulaic and plays it safe. To be honest, for most kids that played it, it was more than enough. I personally saw the twist coming from a mile away, but I know people that were shocked by it. I thought the starforge was a really fucking stupid concept that would only be cool to a child. Yeah sure, you can shit out fake star destroyers left and right, but where are you going to find the manpower and skilled individuals to crew all these ships?

Speaking of, I've always hated how KOTOR made the Sith have Imperial knock off designs, when it should be the opposite, like what we eventually saw in the movies, with the Republic having space triangles and TIE fighters. But like I said, it's a game for kids, you gotta give the sith bad-guy coded ships.

I just wouldn't rush it. My first attempt playing I was spending too much and it was a struggle. Slow growth works better, but it's a balance too because shit can happen like they retake a mine or some territory which reduces loyalty which reduces income. Now you're bleeding $3k a day and some contracts are almost up...
On the other hand, you can intercept a lot of diamond shipments and pick up money by hacking, but you don't want to live in the red and ideally you'll want some cash on hand to buy things or whatever.
I also think militia is handy but they do get wiped over time. It's not a foolproof way to lock down a sector.
I have Diamond Red, Mfumu's, and Old Diamond, and most of the central sectors above the river, and Cacao and a few sectors, and I feel like that supports me having two squads. I've done some things that helped get extra loyalty which gives more money too.
I think it's not a terrible idea to build up a second squad bit by bit, like a 2 or 3 person that can so some of: repair, scout, train militia, medical, make ammo/explosives. It's a bit of a drain since they're not generating cash but it can be helpful for a number of reasons.

Im running Warrior > Overseer mastiff with Attack of opportunity gear on. I think it's overall a pretty good build, you're basically invincible and if anyone attacks them you'll attack back 3 times and your dog will also attack.

I know there's probably some better comboes out there with the warp damage to adjacent which triggers dog attacks but whatever, not really min maxxing.

Don't know if I'd recommend the build. Or maybe I would. It's a pretty steady increase in power unlike most other ranged characters who cap out and then just sort of take random shit for 30 levels..

I see some people are confused.

Abelard is Iconoclastic because he has worldly concerns. He likes training his officers, he likes seeing them perform well, and he likes taking care of them. He likes the dynasty making money, and he oversees the functions of the ship. He is a worldly man. He is not needlessly cruel to his crew. He is as religious as the average random citizen, meaning he does venerate the emperor, but he's not particularly religious. His worldly concerns occupy his mind just as much or more than his religion.

Idira is heretical because her main guiding force in her life is whispers from the warp. She's an unsanctioned psyker who specializes in communicating with warp entities, and more than that, she doesn't just see the warp entities as servants or necessary evils, she actually has conversations with them and refers to them affectionately. Being a psyker does not determine whether you are dogmatic or iconoclastic or heretical, but your attitude about your psyker abilities and how you use them does. Someone who thinks it's okay to be an unsanctioned psyker would be more heretical than someone who seeks to get sanctioned, and someone who is affectionate towards their warp entities would be more heretical than someone who keeps them at arm's length.

Argenta's main driving force in her life is her religion. Execution is her go-to response for heretics, but she does reveal a slightly softer side for those who are repentant or who were duped into it. Caring for orphans is not inherently iconoclastic or dogmatic, but your methods and purpose in doping so does fall to one or the other. If you do it because the imperium needs the next generation of soldiers, that is a dogmatic motivation. If you do it because you like to see children be happy, that is an iconoclastic motivation.

You missed a conversation. Argenta's motivation was also guilt over Mort's child being among the group, who she murdered. People are complicated and have multifaceted motivations, which is a flaw of alignment systems in every game that's done them.
However, just like in other games, the alignment system in RT does give you a reasonable snapshot view of a person's general style of thinking and motivations, which is valid. I see this all the time, where a character will do something that is not strictly in their alignment, and they're either not understand how that's possible, or they're start jumping through hoops to argue it actually is in their alignment. When the real answer is that a person can act outside their alignment and that doesn't mean they're suddenly a different alignment. An alignment on a character sheet is just a prevailing habit of how the person acts, it's not a hard limit and they suddenly physically freeze into a statue if they attempt to do something outside their alignment. A Good character only shifts to Evil if they make a habit out of doing evil things, and likewise, a Dogmatic character only shifts to Iconoclast if they make a habit out of doing iconoclastic things. A little bit of leeway, or isolated instances that break the trend, don't necessarily mean anything.

Argenta is very dogmatic, with a spattering if inconoclastic indulgences here and there, for example. You can be mostly one thing, and a little bit of another. You can do some things outside of your general habits. For some reason dnd/pf players always forget this too.
