Ogre would be even better at 3, its a really really good card in this meta. It completely destroy maliss since they just can't do their shit without activating their effect, especially if they don't open dormhouse, it add a lot of choke point in their route. It also save my ass in the bewd matchup by destroying true light, limit a lot their ceiling. Help a bit with Ryzeal but they can summon easily 4-5 body so yeah, it slow them but don't count on it alone.

There's a lot to process when you're new, don't beat yourself up. Once you get the hang of it, you will be the one who is summoing 20 monsters and making unbreakable boards.
If you really wanted to, try to put together a Ryzeal deck. Its kinda expensive, but its relatively braindead because all its cards are consistent as hell. Its getting a lot of hate right now, and for good reason, its super easy to play and super hard to break through without "silver bullets" - cards that counter specific strategies

And I was pleasantly surprised to learn that's not the case.

You CAN play it as Cyberse engine to end "muh unbreakable board" but then your combo is interrupted, and you're fucked. You actually can play Maliss as just a Maliss deck, and rely on setting up your three in-archetype link monsters, and not only is the deck more fun to play that way, it's also more flexible as there are plenty more ways to get to your in-archetype end board than the combo combo one.

It depends, but yeah, sometimes you gotta make a choice between Ranson or Crypter, and Crypter+Binder is more important.

Likewise, Binder + some support + hand-traps will get the job done as well, sometimes.

Again, it's just maneuvering the deck. As the video I posted said, the centerpiece of the deck is Binder, so no matter what, your goal is to summon her and her up, from there, the rest is more like extra. But going from Binder to Crypter often really isn't that hard if you understand what all the cards do and you have the right hand.

You'd be surprised at how well that works in the current meta. Maliss recycles itself really well, and really, you just want to disrupt them enough with that + hand-traps so they can't stop you from taking the kill on turn 3.

This is what makes the deck fun imo, as you are trading a lot on turn 2, making well-timed decisions. Even if they break a good chunk of your board, you usually have enough to mount a full comeback on turn 3 so long as you survive and used your stuff to exhaust their disruption for the next turn.

You can do both, it depends on the situation. Key is just keeping your main goals mind, like he says. So long as you understand what the deck is trying to do, then you have a number of ways to get there.

Ransom is typically a good way to get to Binder because you can get two extra bodies off of her. When she searches for the field spell which can banish a Maliss name (or vanished her from gy by sending Maliss in Mirror) and when she banishes a Maliss name from deck after she summons herself from Banish. So it's very good card to extend, but it's all situational on how you started, whether or not you have the field in hand already, and whether or not you have other ways to banish from deck.

Ransom's usual goal is to get you the field.

It's extra funny when you freestyle it though, as you really throw people off when you do, they typically expect Ransom before Binder, and no longer know what to do if Binder comes out first.

Binder is also a reason why TB-11 is better than most people think. If you hard open it, it's just protection to let your Binder resolve when you need it to, and it'll put an extra body on the board to help you get to Crypter.

Freestyling the deck is very fun. Often times it's figuring out where you can get to with what you have, and because you're also figuring things out on the fly, your opponent often doesn't know how to stop you.
