Which in some way can be described as my personal reinvention or reboot or whatever of Sonic, as the template of sorts. And the long term plans for it is basically set up like a

Except I've had to put my Shadow and Silver characters into the classic story, despite trying very hard to keep them out until the Adventure era story, and now I have to put all my 06 ideas into this classic story blended with SA2. Which isn't as complicated as it sounds, really... Except, one of my ideas is "Iblis" being sealed inside of the Knuckles character as his power source of sorts, and I had that idea since I was a kid, WAY before the movies were even a concept. ...But, I never actually explored the concept properly all these years, so I just took inspiration from the paramount Knuckles series anyway when trying to actually craft the story for the Knuckles character. But now I realize I have to expand it further because one little detail I never actually delved into, within my original story idea from when I was like 14, was how the "Mephiles releases Iblis to merge into Solaris" plot was gonna unfold exactly. Beyond the vague idea of the Knuckles character having to be consumed by rage as the trigger.

But I never thought about how that happens exactly or how that'd be paced in the story overall. So that's the next thing I've been thinking about.

Like, as an example, the only reason I decided to bring the Shadow-inspired character and Silver-inspired character into the "classic era" story is because I wanted to draw from Codename: Kids Next Door and Undertale for part of the story and stuff, but I can't do that without the Shadow character as Numbuh 1, and the Silver character as Sans. So I had to backtrack and rebuild it from the ground up to really help re-align all these different concepts and story elements I have, to make it fit.

Punks rebel against the system oppressing them. For Sonic, the system he rebels against is Eggman, because otherwise he is already free without anyone controlling him. But when he IS in a state of being oppressed, he aggressively breaks out and tears it down. Like busting out of the GUN helicopter and escaping from the city, or the entire plot of Black Knight where he's literally and figuratively fighting against the very "rules" of that world.

What makes Black Knight such a strong Sonic character focused story is that it uses the Arthurian storybook world's themes of knighthood, serving a king, chivalry, and all of that to be a direct contrast to Sonic. Sonic being "the Knight of the Wind" is a direct subversion of what it even MEANS to be a knight. Knights serve their kings, but Sonic has no master. Sonic serves no one. Yet, he is still a knight. So, what does that make the Knights of the Round Table?

Sonic & The Black Knight is what happens when you throw a punk into the Arthurian world and have him learn how to be a knight. He's gonna rebel against the system and say "Nah. I'mma do my own thing".

There's Speedy in Tails Adventure being his Rival character. There's Cosmo in Sonic X being his Love Interest. Both are perfectly conceptualized in relation to him as well. A bird that excels in supersonic flight, a plant girl representing the planet while he flies to the heavens. But neither exist in the modern world. Heck, "Speedy" is just JET THE HAWK, who himself is used primarily as a SONIC Rival. And sure, there's Wave, but...

Tails is stuck as "Robin, Batman's Sidekick". The reason his Sonic Adventure arc has gone nowhere is because "the sidekick beating the main character's villain by himself" can't get him out of that sidekick role alone. What Tails needs to reach Nightwing status is to go from "Robin, Batman's Sidekick" to "Robin, Teen Titans Leader".

The Teen Titans are the reason WHY Robin became Nightwing in the first place. Otherwise, he would have remained Batman's sidekick forever. Just like Tim Drake does. Tim Drake is just "Robin" because there's never been a need for him to truly fly solo in any meaningful way beyond that. He exists to be Batman's sidekick because the first Robin became the Titans' Leader, and the second Robin died before coming back as Red Hood. Tim exists because "Batman needs a Robin" who can stay by Batman's side and maintain that status quo.

But that's hurting Tails' character. Severely. Tails NEEDS his own Teen Titans. If Tails is the "KID Sonic", then he needs his own kids next door. The fact that DC x Sonic never showed us Tails with the Titans even though we KNOW it happened, is the worst part of the whole crossover!
