Arcane Archer is a fighter that can use consumable arrows and titanstring bow so it's good. This isn't an MMO or a MOBA, so your rough classification is completely off. For example, a Cleric is well-suited for the front line. They are proficient with medium armor and shields, have access to plenty of self-buffing and healing, and can cast spells like Spirit Guardians for crowd control. Regardless, BG3 is not an optimization puzzle. An all-ranged team is completely viable, as is an all-melee one.

The reason is to ease new players into a natural, well-rounded party. That doesn't contradict what I said. Among these classes, the Rogue (or Rogue-adjacent) role is not at all essential, which immediately disproves the notion that a rigid team composition is necessary. Every class can use scrolls, which helps bridge the gap between martials and spellcasters that usually exists in D&D. You could play four Champions and completely steamroll the game, even on Honor difficulty.

Wyll and karlach dump you upon entering the camp when the party starts. Here's an even better one. Tell Minthara about it, go to the mountain pass, come back and she will be gone and the goblins will make the grove their new home. You might need to long rest during this I'm not sure.

It's okay, but ideally any fighter build will want strength anyway. Keep in mind there are elixirs that set your strength to 21 and last until long rest. So those can be substitute for normal strength.

There are a few time-sensitive quests that will fail if you take too long to complete them - this can range from a single long rest to several. When you come across a quest where time is of the essence, it'll generally be pretty obvious. There's an area in the first act of the game where some buildings are on fire. If you discover that place and go back to camp with your entire party (not even long resting) time will progress and anyone caught in the fires will die. I think that's the only part of the game where that happens, other places are time-sensitive for rescues. The game will warn you when a story beat will lock you out of any quests you can still do

Anons I'm in the Underdark and about to free Nere from the rumble. I have arranged with the duergar pair nearby to kill him, I've found the explosives, etc. But when I blow the debris and Nere gets out battle starts and everyone gang up on me (Nere AND all the duergar). Aren't some of them supposed to help me fight Nere due to our arrangement or something?
What's been happening here?

Cause as it is, I should just secretly kill every duergar I see before the boom boom. Otherwise it's very difficult due to high numbers and equal levels.

That would not be great. EK doesn't give benefits for bows, so we're using melee.
Your option 1 would be building around booming blade -> attack spam. For this you would want Great Weapon Master feat which only works for weapon that can be two-handed. And finesse weapon (i.e. the ones that scales from dex) are usually one-handed. There are a couple of exceptions, but your pool of viable weapons would be tiny.
Option 2 would be building around throwing your weapon. For this you'd want Tavern Brawler feat and it scales from strength.

This one is fine. But it would also need str, because the most damaging bow scales from both dex and str. Also you would need int so your special arrow effects would not get resisted. Meaning you will have to compensate a lot of stats with equipment and elixirs.

I can't tell whether the TES-tier crime system adds to the charm of BG3 or if it's too immersion-breaking. Random citizens will confront you and your gang of armored weirdos if you grab an apple you didn't pay for, and they're willing to die over it. Trusted allies will become mortal enemies if you inadvertently startle the dog at camp. It gets a little silly.

I have this weird bug where if I dont recruit Astarion or Wyll for my party my gameplay improves dramatically.

It's not perfect, but I do believe faction and reputation and affinity systems like this are very important to rpg's so having them is better than not. It'll get better with each iteration.

Melee EK is very good, yes. Archer just goes above and beyond because ranged is generally superior to melee, titanstring bow exists, consumable arrows are busted, and piercing damage benefits from bhaalist armor in act 3. Even without any of that melee EK is still a martial with 3 attacks, action surge, booming blade, low level wizard spells for utility (shield, longstrider, hold person, etc.) and the ability to use and abuse scrolls for higher level spells. You can easily get arcane synergy for Int mod to damage and arcane acuity, too.

If you don't collect any Nightsong points, her default decision is to murder aylin and become a justiciar. So she is evil under the dnd rulebook. She would blip on a paladin's Detect Evil sonar, and they would smite her, and the Smite Evil spell would gain it's extra damage dice. For all mechanical purposes, she is evil, because of her default desire to become a justiciar and serve Shar.

However, she does seem happier when the player does intervene to stop her, so I like to think she's not really evil on the inside. The cult went through a lot of effort to make her think she wanted to be a justiciar. So it's more complicated than just her being evil. In other words, if the player makes her touch grass, she actually breaks out of her evil bullshit, but without them, she chooses to be evil. So it's up to you to decide what that means.

If you're a charisma class a 2 level dip in Paladin is all you need. The 6 levels total for the Aura is a plus but you don't NEED it, you just need 2 levels for Divine Smite and more levels in a full caster (Bard, Wizard, Sorcerer, Druid, Cleric) for better spell slots for stronger smites.
What you do is you go into the reactions menu and toggle on smite on hit and smite on critical hit for all spell slot levels. Then you use a flourish and can choose to smite on it which is better than casting Divine Smite in all scenarios. At least that's how I assume it works because I've never tried Smite Bard despite having done a half dozen playthroughs already.

I wonder if the reason why Duke Stelmane was controlled by the Emperor was because they were genuinely good friends until he tried to convince her to eat tadpoles.

She had a stroke.. so it makes me think she's predisposed to ill health. When she reacts badly he accidentally vegetables her and he regrets that.

So when it comes to the player he remembers the past failure to win Stelmane over and tries to coax the player more gently, shows himself as a hero to try and get do gooders to help him, shows vulnerability to try and get the player to protect him, he shows himself as the just side. Sex to try and tie the player to him as well. It's all very calculated.

If controlling other people is so easy, why doesn't he do it and instead goes to all that effort? I think the simplest answer is that he is lonely and sees his past self in the player which is why he takes the player as a protege and tries to tempt with the squid path. Cleric does get to pretend to be part martial depending on the subclass, and Death is one of those since it gets martial weapons, divine strike, and a channel divinity for extra damage on melee.
But the important part to remember is that you get to PRETEND to be PART martial. You can't just go in swinging all the time like a real martial class, you have to play like an actual hybrid. Put up a concentration spell like Spirit Guardians, then walk in and smack shit on your next turn. Now you're doing consistent AoE damage, creating difficult terrain, and getting bonus damage on your melee attack through your subclass features. You get to preserve spell slots by not casting every single turn and with the divine strike and channel divinity damage (not to mention Larian's busted homebrew itemization) your melee should be outdoing your cantrips since Death domain doesn't get the potent cantrips feature.

Rogue feels like one of those classes where you either take 3 levels or 11 levels.
I think a 1 level dip into Fighter is really worth it, because it gets you medium armor (Yuan-Ti, later on the Armour of Agility) and a fighting style. Archery if you're ranged, dueling if you're rapier/Phalur Aluve player, TWF otherwise.
Level 11 is when Rogue gets Reliable Talent, so I'm not a huge fan of multiclassing more than 1 level. Reliable Talent lets you auto-pass the first 3 checks for Greater Invis, so you get 3 rounds of uninterrupted Sneak Attack outside of combat. Odds are high you pass the 4th check too. Just precast GI and walk up and start stabbing. Have the Bhaalist Armor on, and you basically guaranteed take out 3 targets before the fight even starts.
