Robin was allowed to grow up because of Teen Titans. Otherwise, he absolutely would have been stuck in Batman's shadow. And then actual change would happen from there, inevitably. If Tails became like Teen Titans Robin instead of Batman's Sidekick Robin, then the logical conclusion would be Nightwing, and Gurren Lagann's second half where he's literally reaching the highest of all the heavens like his theme song promises.

But all he needs is own Team. Amy, Knuckles, Blaze, Shadow, all have at least one character designed to be THEIR friend, sidekick or rival. It's time for Tails to have his own.
