It's pretty simple: I don't play gachas for gameplay. For me, it being a gacha game automatically ruins any chance of me ever taking it as a game because I don't respect gacha as a mechanic at all. It ruins everything it touches. If I play Elden Ring and the gameplay doesn't meet my standard then I'd be furious because that's why I'm playing Elden Ring. For GFL2, I don't care. The only pure platoons are the ones with rentrys ol, personal spread sheets or discords.

So, is the story ever going to get better? Every one hyped up the writing for GFL1, so I came in expecting something incredible, and so far it's barely above Genshin's writing. Doesn't help that it's a coinflip on if you'll get full voice acting or not, and the autoplay in this game is genuinely the worse ive ever seen in a video game.

This game is just as formulaic as hoyo and wuwa when it comes to its writing. New patch, new character that's on the banner for the patch gets featured in a story that's tailored specifically around them, nothing important pertaining to the plot occurs and characters remain completely unaffected. Rinse and Repeat. Way too many characters are on the Elmo already. Seeing Nemesis and Krolik at the end of the last event was a literal jumpscare because it felt like the game completely forgot they existed. Trying to write around all of these characters being on the Elmo at the same time sounds like a nightmare, as the new dolls like Colphne, Krolik, and Nemesis have taken a giant backseat. Despite being with the Commander the entire time in the latest Main Story Chapter, Colphne barely ever talked, and was effectively a Helena handholding doll.

I'm probably going to drop the game at this point. The story is average and predictable, the gameplay is pathetically easy (ive beaten all stages without even touching the gacha), the QoL is lacking.

OKAY. It took 8 days, but I've cleared Campaign through Chapter 8.
tl;dr:
- Too plot-centric, should take pointers from Sojourners on focus and characterization.
- Krolik is horrible, Colphne needs hugs, Nemesis and Groza are alright. Vepley...exists.
- The direction of the plot seems alright, and I liked the twist at the end of 8. Sextans playable, when?

Longer thoughts:
- Story slowly got better with time, but is way too plot-centric for its own good. Spends more time on combat scenarios than on character development.
- Krolik is by far the worst character I have seen in a long time. Obnoxious, one-dimensional bitch. If you have nothing better to do than pick fights with Nemesis, then we should have let the ELIDs tear you apart. God I hate this girl, no redeeming qualities whatsoever. There are a few, a FEW moments where she seems like she has depth, but those are squandered by her provocative nature. Someone please dismantle this Doll and find Nemesis a new translator.
- By contrast, Colphne is easily the Doll with the most depth. Her story is rather simple and common, but it doesn't detract from the presentation. I would have liked to see her use her brain a little more rather than try to fly solo like a reckless loon, but I can excuse her actions to an extent.

- Commander is surprisingly naive in terms of how to handle emotional situations, and in how they approach difficult Dolls who won't listen. Feel like there should have been an intervention with both Krolik and Colphne way earlier in the story, but at least we got one for Colphne in the end. I think I would have liked things more if Commander figured things out sooner and offered to fully assist Colphne in her revenge, but Colphne (having come to care for the group) left anyway to try and keep them (or at least, Helena) from harm.
- Nemesis needs to take lessons from Littara on how to communicate. The fact she has to rely on Krolik is clearly a detriment, and she seems like someone who's fun to be around once you get to know her.
- Groza is fine, though as with Commander, I'd prefer if she took initiative more. I can forgive Groza more because Groza doesn't have Commander's experience (nor most of her memories, at that), but part of being a Leader is understanding how to come to an agreement with your subordinates. I don't feel like that part of her arc has been fulfilled just yet. Other than that, I'm interested to see where she goes.
- I'm glad that we moved on from the Varjagers and more into Paradeus. Everything with the Varjagers felt like a waste of time, and it didn't even matter for Colphne's development. In the same vein, fuck that pink twink, I'm glad he's dead. Now shoot Krolik next.
- I really hope the story focuses more on the cast from here, and brings Kalina and co back in a more prominent role. I'm pretty sure that's where things are heading, so as long as that happens and Colphne stays in the story, I think I'll be content.

Originally krolik had her space in the team.
She was an aggressive front liner who couldn't battle on when resources were low.
However she was undermined as soon as more dolls joined the Elmo. Now there's no struggling for resources, nor is there a lack of firepower (hehe 404/monsoon love you commander)
The primary issue with the story is the 5 months of filler we've had, and will continue to get, as each character patch is focused on that character and MICA struggles to link that into the main story.

GF2 has amazing presentation, but is unironically the worst writing i've seen in a gacha game. It's just incredibly DRY and loves to waste time in boring/mundane yapping. Check Nikke to see how you can tell an enganing story while using 1/5 os the text used in GF2.
That said, it seems the story got better in the last few chapters

skin gacha doesnt have soft pity or it starts very late (like 90+ pulls) and has insignificant rate up like in recent persona gacha where people get character at the very last pull most of the time
So without soft pity and 1% rate up you will be hitting 100th pull very often.

People already dropped this game in masses when gunsmoke hit. It's been long since over.

This game has laggy and shitty menus with too long loading times (why does it load so long when you get out of the battle back to the menu?!?), and chores that require you to go through 50 fucking layers of menus on top, that are always the same and not fun.

I've played a fair amount of gacha, and can say with confidence. There are only 3 types of gacha:

-Dailies that are not frustrating, they tend to have fast menus, and easy access to all the things you need to do per day, while keeping everything relatively quick and painless.
-Dailies that can be frustrating because of long game boot times/loading times, laggy menus and the likes, but you generally have to do very little in a given day.
-Dailies are generally frustrating with issues like above, but a LOT MORE of it. Sometimes extremely time consuming chores exist as well.


GFL2 was tricky. They didn't show its the third category at the start, as not much was unlocked. But then PVP unlocked. Gunsmoke was added. Boundary Garbage was added. Events require you to interact with that shit every 2 days, generally a lot of "please click around a lot" events exist.
And they will add even more time wasting boring and grindy shit.

You COULD fix it. Rework menus to not be as laggy and give access to important daily things with one click from the main screen (PVP, Dorm Dispatch, Farm Stages). Make PVP skipable. Give rewards automatically instead of extra clicks everywhere. Remove the daily platoon battle. Remove Boundary Garbage. Rework gunsmoke and allow you to do infinite hits within its week, counting your best 2 (still needing two different teams). But it's arguably way too late.

I just read AK-15 skills, vertebrae and keys and they're all insane. I don't think a single part of her kit is weak. Had my doubts whether she'll be actually better than Kluk, but she fills basically all roles by herself and doesn't even need any team mates to dish out the pain.
Any team mates will trigger a bunch of support attacks so it's still much better to have them there. No requirements though, they just need to make attacks.
I guess she doesn't have a unique stacking (i.e. Kluk corrosion) DEF shred, but she's going to shred 200% DEF and deal the majority of damage herself, so it doesn't really matter.
She could have had a self-heal to be completely self-sufficient, but she does have a ridiculous 80% damage reduction as long as she's above 0 stability (just like some bosses) and a DEF bonus just from her passive.
I wonder how they're gonna powercreep her in the future. I don't doubt it'll happen, but this feels like a jumping the shark moment.

It often time just boils down to you run the map, get hit by gimmick you don't understand, read, then clear it.

AK shat on balance of the game and had released over powered operators after the other that significantly bastardize older game modes, and now often rely on gimmics between insta-killing attacks and sponges to create new "challenges"

Don't get me wrong, it's no where as bad as gfl2, one unit is still not enough for end game, and a lot of even 1, 2 and 3 stars can be used to supplement your strategy, but "having to go out of your way not to use the broken 6*" is very real.

Your information is out dated, and CC back when it was a thing (it's now a shadow of its former self) was never hard or a challenge to reach R18.

Plus, most arknights players just rely on youtubers to spoon feed them how to solve a stage if they lose just once. The game experience is literally just watching youtube videos and a menu sim for a large if not 80 to 90% of the player base of the game.
