We are talking about a 200%-500% increased sudden spike of dopaminergic activity of what a neurotypical individual would experience. This is fine and all, because it doesn't really elevate dopamine in the cleft above what "normal" people have, which could be neurotoxic. Now enter World of Warcraft, or Worlo as we like to call it. The game is a digital manifestation of what a male individual in his development years seeks. The fantasy adventure.

The are too many induvidual variables to estimate the severity and persistence of the effects. Same goes for the reversal or correction of the reward system. For some people it happens seemingly randomly with no clear internal or external trigger, while others fail despite year long behavioral training and abstinence from the game. And a few people manage to live with it, even turning it into a career.

you don't need that gear to raid. get honored with klaxxi and shado pan through questing and you will have more than enough gear to go into MSV. and anything you get with valor you're just gonna replace it with raid gear pretty quickly anyway, or could easily sub with celestial gear. it's nice for minmaxing if you're pushing heroics with a big parse group, but it's far from necessary.

this is a real "you think you do, but you don't" scenario. servers like that would be dead without progression. Wrath numbers were in free fall towards the end. people don't want to sit around in a stagnated server, you get bis and then what? look at SoD, it practically died overnight when they announced there was no more content being made. it's not like the servers were shut down. you can still play it. but without the promise of future content to look forward to, nobody does, despite tons of people saying they love SoD. Era servers are barely treading water too. there needs to be some carrot on the end of the stick.
I'm sure you would have a handful of people happy to run ICC for infinity like they do on Warmane, but it would not be a significant population. rotating servers like they're doing with Anni is probably their best bet, but we will see with Anni TBC and Wrath how much demand there really is for those. I expect each run through will see diminishing returns. I think Classic+ with an OSRS model would be the only thing that stops the bleeding of classic at this point. people don't want to play the same thing forever, that's why classic is a dead end. people want new content, in the style of classic.
