It's crazy how bad portal is against heals. It's even worse than aggro, because it just has a lot less damage from hand, and less opportunities to deal it. For puppets, you're entirely limited by evo to deal face damage. For AF, you need your opponent to never peassure you, otherwise you're forced into gamma or alpha instead of betas. The deck's damage potential is far too tight with no leeway. A single sagelight can beat portal sometimes, let alone current rune heals.

Set 2 was basically set 1.5, the way they are releasing sets is 1 big one followed by a mini expansion. So set 3 should be fairly large, at least as large as set 1. So 3 leggos per class and a bunch of golds. Frankly, the meta needs a LOT of new cards to combat the staleness of Sword and Rune

I think the fact that the card pool is so small and mirror matches are so boring is what is making this meta so garbage. Once we have multiple viable decks per craft the meta will sort itself out and Rune/Sword won't feel as oppressive. Given that the next set is Omen themed I expect each craft to have at least 2 viable decks.

Two months is fucking nothing. Metas aren't automatically solved quickly either. The IE meta was solved week one because it's a shitty meta, LR didn't even finish developing in the month that it was around. Whether or not we trust the team to develop good sets is another issue entirely.
The important thing is just that the actual team just makes the two months between each set meaningful with events that aren't fucking chests. Over time the two month window will become less and less problematic naturally though once we have more cards to experiment with which means metas won't be as easy to solve even if they''re ultimately shit metas, and unlimited becomes a format we can experiment in.

A flat damage tracker would probably end up being even worse to balance than what vengeance was in any case. You'd have to set up a number of how much damage you took throughout a match. It'd be incredibly swingy since some decks would have to push you towards your requirement to have any game while a lot of others could sit on their fucking hands until they OTK you. As far as managing it yourself goes, it would wildly imbalance Blood builds against each other since some could just freely heal up while others would be burning themselves down. The whole own HP matters family of mechanics is just incredibly poorly thought out which is why blood is fucking dead. Revelation might've been the only well designed vengeance card ever made and the team thought they could build a whole mechanic around it when it could just be a stand alone.

I play a fair bit of midsword and I'm not scared of any of those. You can clear any board easily unless your opponent has an uncommonly good highroll and you somehow don't have gildaria or amalia. Rune's roach matchup is definitely worse than 4-6. Sword is the only deck that really doesn't have a truly bad matchup as far as I'm aware, they can go under aggro abyss and over ward haven. I just started playing agro abyss and it seems pretty good into most match ups but for a few it seems like you just concede. Primarily into aether and sword ward board if you have no gravy. I also get the impression if you don't kill the OP quickly you run out of steam FAST. Am I misplaying or is that just how the deck is? Sword seems to be the hardest match up so far, rune is 50/50.
