These are godlike creatures of destruction, the army can barely deal with a Champion, a Perfect is enough to conquer the world most likely.

But 99% of them die to a single (or 2 at most) named attack from a protagmon once they evolve. They don't tank for shit. They don't get hurt, perhaps weakened or injured, or knocked out. No no, they explode into a million pieces of data when the MC shoots a blast at them like they're Yugioh monsters instantly dying to a higher ATK card, there's very little fighting usually because they can't take many hits

I enjoy how more and more people are coming to the same realization as that "Jayden Plays Digimon" video. When it released this general was fuming about it calling it wrong, but I always had that opinion.
And since them I've noticed more and more people realize that Digimon games are barely competent, we stick through mud and rain with the franchise almost purely because of the concept - cool pets (much cooler than what you'd find in Pokémon, DQ Monster Joker, or Monster Rancher).

That's it. The mechanics can be whatever, they're typically worse than other games you know, but at least you get Angels and Mecha Dinosaurs with zero competition because Godzilla doesn't have games.
The upcoming Alyssion card game will be a competitor for best Digimon videogame despite it merely being a port of the tcg, you'd never hear that in other franchises, but have such a lack of (good) consistency that it's possible here.
But yeah the Dejimon being awesome is what's holding this franchise together in spite of Bandai fucking the games and Toei fucking the anime, I hope whoever designed those first mons got enough money to never work a day again.

Oh yes, especially because Digimon games can really come down to just being big stat checks, there's little variety.
Even without romhacks, you can pick up old Poke games and limit yourself to stuff like not evolving or not leveling up so you're forced to play smartly using all the different moves to win fights, really squeezing the juice out of they Pidgeotto or the classic unevolved Pikachu. Maybe using your bugs with stun, absorb or poison spores for some stall gameplay. Digimon is much more basic in the move selection and gameplay, in most games you really gotta level or evolve up to the enemy's powerlevel or you do zero damage and get destroyed.

At least you can make your favorite Adult or Perfects competitive in Cyber Sleuth... if you're willing to use PlatinumNumemon and grind different evo paths for an hour or two so your Angemon can have good moves and stats

Ok Alysion is somewhat growing on me but Security cards being deleted no matter what, even if theyre much stronger, is a strange design choice. It definitely seems like cards with Security Attack + 1 or Unsuspend effects are the obvious choice to hit your opponent's Security as much as possible.
