I played and watched uta1. It must be weird to play 2 before 1 since the game is constantly saying "hey remember uta1?". I bet there are some uta1 purists who don't like how the new lore changes things but that doesn't bother me.
At first the music volume was too high and the voice volume was too low, but after adjusting it I didn't really pay attention to the music.
I liked a few characters: nekone, uruuru, saraana, moznu, nosuri (maybe)
Another thing I liked was the world map, especially when showing troop movements. Nice clear visuals to convey what was happening. Would have been better if there was less focus on the fat retard being retarded. Uta1 also had a fat retard but he was dealt with early, whereas this time he needs to be kept around so he can be an easy opponent in the next game.

I realize it's silly to complain about uta2 without having read uta3. It's not a game that makes some sacrifices to its own value as a standalone experience in order to set up the next game; it's more like uta2&3 are a single game and I'm attempting to judge it after reading the prologue. From that perspective it makes sense that the minor antagonist you fight at the end of the prologue wouldn't get much focus, etc. In a way it's impressive that they didn't bother making compromises and focused entirely on setting up future events.

Maybe I just feel disappointed because my expectations were too high. I knew that some people didn't uta2 due to the slice-of-life stuff or gameplay parts, but I normally like slice-of-life AND I like tactics games AND I like the more serious visual novel stuff. Plus the overall aesthetic is appealing. Yet there's just something about the storytelling and various characters that didn't click with me. Same with the battle system.
Still, I don't completely hate it, and my opinion will likely improve after I see the payoff to all the stuff the story sets up.

Hello vitagen, i have a question to you anons cause you are the only people i ever heard talk about this game. I am playing the first dungeon travellers game and i am stuck. I am at the final floor of the 30 tiers tower and floor 20 of the main dungeon, but i can't kill any boss cause they have like 10 turns before i even get one. I imagine since i am at lv49-50 i am underleveled and am just getting statchecked. Is there any way to farm exp or similar? Cause you get fuck all exp from killing enemies, i am using the same team of Samurai, Sage, Mainstream Idol, Treasure Hunter and Darklord for the last 30 hours

Gotta say, Soul Sacrifice has been weirdly good so far and I appreciate the anons that pushed me into it.

It's ok. If I played it normally it would have been boring, since you can simply place a strong unit in enemy attack range and counterattack everything. Instead I tried to clear each map in as few turns as possible, and I had to use all the game mechanics to their fullest to do that in the early-midgame maps (by the end it became trivial to 1-turn everything).
Story-wise I don't think the crossover clusterfuck makes for a very interesting plot, it's mostly just a reason to use cool mecha from various series.
Overall I think most people would prefer SRW V. It shares most of the same problems but has better series included e.g. Yamato 2199

I finished the dream arena in uta2. Not much difference from the prior story battles.

The attack combos are a good idea. It's often advantageous to end the combo early to maximize zeal or to avoid an attack that moves units around. I don't enjoy inputting timed hits every time so I sped up the battle animations and switched to the "auto-chain" setting early on.
I like the idea of building up zeal to get a power-up. Getting to act again immediately is a bit much, but I guess it's the central game mechanic that you're supposed to exploit to makes the battles more strategic.
I don't like how the combat involves so many skills that activate 50%/75% of the time. That sort of variance is fine in some games, but here most units die in 1-2 hits and you can easily heal back to full if you survive, so the randomness makes a big difference. The battle preview is nice, but it's hard to estimate how much damage an attack will do if I'm trying to plan before the enemy enters my attack range.

How does the progression work? Do you lose everything when a digimon dies or do some parts carry over?

They changed a few things, for one your tamer level gets a lot higher, so a lot more stats carry over to your next digimon. After that they added some kind of summoning mechanic where you can save the soul of your previous digimon and summon it in battle as a special attack. There's also a way to make time run slower, so your digimon stays alive longer, but once it dies you basically have to spend an hour or more training it back up to ultimate / mega level.

If everything goes right, it should arrive around the time when the month changes. It was a game I was supposed to buy back in the day, but t he opportunity never came up and it ended up being removed from (to my knowledge) the only store it was ever available in. Now I found some eBay sellers having copies and even though it was expensive, it was still a good deal considering the digital version never went on a sale. I know the version on other platforms has dropped in price considerably during sales, but I very specifically always wanted the physical Vita version of this.

Some of you guys might actually already guess which game it is based on the information above, but I'll t ry to keep it a surprise until it actually arrives. I'm so glad I managed to still find a new Vita game to buy.

And the first one was digital only everywhere in the world.
