Takumi mourns the loss of the friendships and times he had with SDU and falls into despair over his decisions that lead to him losing even more of the people he traveled back to save. It makes his relationship with Tsubasa/Yugamu/Darumi feel more earned and fleshed out because he actually redid the process of getting to know these people with what he lost in mind instead of everyone just slotting into the same general roles they had the first time.

I think the discrepancy comes in because, for the most part, we only get solid looks into what I'll call Kodaka's Darumi and Kyohei's Darumi.
(Yes she is alive in some other routes, but she doesn't usually get enough focus to make definitive statements on her character. For the purposes of this analysis, R0, Retsnom and KG are all that matter).
I think they latch onto different aspects of her character as a baseline and it all circles back to how they interpret the idea that she's bipolar.
When Kodaka wants to emphasize this, he makes her irreverent, flippant, acting as if she isn't taking the situation seriously. This is obviously off-putting to characters in-universe but to us, the readers, it's fun, mostly, she's comic relief. Unless you're easily annoyed, it doesn't impact your opinion of her.
Kyohei understood the assignment differently. He writes her as being kind of violently swingy in mood. She's not just irreverent, she's obnoxious. She's not just manic, she's unhinged. For lack of a better term, KG Darumi is just kind of... meaner, and it becomes harder to tell when its her schtick of actively pushing people away and when its really just her being snippy.
I don't mean just meaner than Retsnom by the way, that's probably not a fair comparison given how she practically worships Takumi in that route, I mean meaner than Route 0 as well and all her other appearances.
This is also evident in Kyohei's drabbles, he is constantly emphasizing her mood swings, making her a more extreme version of Kodaka's character.
I'm not necessarily saying this is *wrong*, but it accounts for the difference in perception. Kyohei does know there's a heart of gold in there, KG makes that quite clear, but her baseline is just a lot snippier and more abrasive.
Basically, Kodaka's Darumi is more palatable, even at her worst, she's still friend-shaped, just a bit kooky. Kyohei's Darumi is a lot more of a pain in the ass, you still love her, but she can be too much at times.

It *seems* like they wanna do larger expansions with a significant number of routes, possibly with further gameplay changes and additions.
But let's also remember, they have a huge amount of assets made now. That could speed things up a lot.
Kodaka has also mentioned he wants updates to the game to punctuate milestones, like if they get a manga adaptation, an anime, a stage play, cross-over collabs, etc.
So the timing may also depend on when that stuff happens.
I wouldn't *hold my breath* for DLC this year... but also TooKyo is full of insane people. I wouldn't be *shocked* if they surprise us.
Especially if they wanna make an awards push, it would be prudent to get more headlines. But who knows how seriously they'll take that stuff.
