When you get to the end parts of the games monsters tend to move around more so you really only get enough time for one or two moves before needing to dodge unless the monster flinches, topples, or is panting. So as long as you're familiar with every weapon's basic moves you're good as those don't tend to change too much from game to game.

I don't even know how. I always hated SnS because of wrongly thinking at weak light hits, but gave it a go when I ran out of things to do and hunt with the other weapons. Somehow it just flowed, it hit hard, tried the tempered mons, and somehow SnS was my first A rank clear on AT Tuna. Had to actually push harder to do the same with my main weapons for the first 2 days.

LS was always just a fallback failsafe from FU days so learning the newer stuff every gen takes no time.

Hammer was always fun because I learnt it only to hunt Kirin back in FU days, so every game that had Kirin I would hammer his ass (or head, really) out of tradition. Seeing the Wilds charge step to reposition+dodge just made it click better.

Focus mode and offset made GS easier than ever, lol.

GL was always main. Looking at my old GU save apparently SA was my main so it was just a bit of conditioning in Wilds.

All in all for the 60 or 70 dollars you pay for in Wilds, it only seems rational to try other weapons to play more of the game you paid for. And yes it's fun trying and gitting gud with weapons new to myself. It's always fun when you have a session going back to your main weapon, everything else looks even more slow motion and in the end you get even better, cleaner, faster with your main.

Gs, Hammer and some others don't count in my book 'cause they're too simple. Mastering comes more from knowing the monster and how to create windows through his moves (although I guess that applies to every weap)

Maybe I jumped on at the right time with Wilds CB. Before the buff, savage axe pizza cutter just FELT like you were shitting out damage, and could knock out the monster. Load Shell is a blessing, definitely worth considering loading out. THEN came the 1.020 or whatever buff to SAED and it's the first game where I feel like I want to SAED spam even if it's still not top DPS, I don't care. Blending CB's SnS and savage axe and SAED is fluid and fun with big damage dopamine, feels much less of a chore in Wilds to maintain phials maybe because of using Load Shell

Similarly IG never clicked with me, and didn't after giving it a go for 2 whole days. Then it suddenly did, getting extracts won't be time-consuming, ground IG is strong, air IG is fun, etc etc. Now I just need to become a newtype and control my kinsect like a fucking Gundam Fin Funnel. It somestimes works. 3D space hunting is liberating on the mind.

Perfect guard the first hit, and tank the rest and you just about survive with very little HP. Ridiculous yes, but never one shotted me by guarding it. Especially not with Lance/GL level shield.

It lasts long enough without skills, you probably use it off with spiral rising slash aka the big move before you naturally run out. And regaining them is easy, either during the big move or just topping up like start of battle with the kinsect.
Don't be thinking like "oh when I am doing all this shit or mounting it's damage downtime", the weapons more than enough makes up for it when you have full extracts and go to town on the monster.
I can do a lot of damage with IG even without completely mastering kinsect as secondary damage, which is what I want to master next. DPSing on ground or aerial and offsets are quite quick to master. You can do it too. It's fun.

Not sure why if GL can still do it with reload GP, albeit with very slightly longer recovery. The trick for GL is to hold guard and reload on attack frame, so even if you miss you still get the previous regular guard, and if you succeed you get PG + reload for free lol

You don't need Earplugs 3, only 2 is enough for most AT monster. 3 is only useful for Gore horn scream, and Zoh? even having 2 gives you much quicker recovery for those monsters, and completely negating all the other ones. Save that 2 slot for something else.

I think my initial assessment might've been wrong.
I have two elemental CB setups; a 2p Zoh 2p Gore and a 2p Lagi 2p Gore.
The Zoh setup has 5 Agitator 4 Burst and 3 Coalescence on top of the minor comfort of the 2p Zoh.
The Lagi setup has 4 Agitator, 3 Burst and 3 Coalescence. Despite the lower agitator and burst, the damage calculator seemed to show roughly equal damage overall, I assume because the occasional extra affinity from 2p Lagi doing something even with like 40% uptime.
However, doing some actual runs and noting down the time of both I'm seeing the Lagi set just being better by a few seconds, consistently.
I'm a bit curious if its just margin of error stuff (play better this or that hunt) or if its actually just outright better.
I know this level of autism is irrelevant but I'm quite curious. Maybe I'm undervaluing 2p Lagi by a lot.

Besides the obvious performance issues and failed live service model, it tries to be everything, both a slow immersive simulation experience with a rich world like World and a fast paced high octane arcady monster fighter like Rise, not understanding that if you try to to be both red and blue you'll end up being neither and nobody will be happy.
It introduces a lot of new things, but they are all as shallow as they can be, examples being guardians, frenzy and herds.
Art direction is incredibly bad and uninspired with the forest in Plenty just about the only good locale/weather combo
"qol" has tipped into being over-streamlining, which strips away much of the soul the series had. This is doubled by the game's need to reinvent the wheel at basically every turn (why did the item pouch need to change from a box to a line?) almost as if it's embarrassed by what "Monster Hunter" was for the 2 decades prior

All of this combines for a mess that is Wilds, a game that, unlike its predecessors, is really hard to put hundreds of hours into and still enjoy your time
