Being "anti-wind" is crazy to me. Like to me, you're saying "I hate Sonic and I hate everyone who likes Sonic or wants Sonic to act like Sonic". Sonic is not tied down by an organization, a resistance group, an ideology, or a relationship. He goes his own way and won't let anyone force him to do something he doesn't want to do.
"Sonic is like the wind" isn't something exclusive to the 00's era of the Japanese games, and the fact that people do think it's exclusive to a language/era is extremely sad because it proves that they don't consume any of media they're talking about. While windism overlaps with JP purism, it's not the same thing. Don't treat the wind trait as something exclusive to SoJ when it's also in localizations and non-canon western material.

The lesson is don't reinvent. Try to keep the elements consistent. It's ok to experiment when appropriate, but don't change things considerably to the point it alienates your audience.
