Man this game is impossible to get back into. I'm stuck spamming all pick games full of literal bots just running down the lane. Carries farming said bots instead of contesting lanes. Nobody communicating, not even trash talking and all it takes for the enemy to win is a free farming Necro just running down everyone I'm playing with and I have no idea what I can do about this. I'm on a 15 game losing streak and yeah okay I can accept that I am bad but how can it even be that I am never matched with anybody that is clearly smurfing or boosting accounts. It's always the same shit. Play support and your carry fucks of into the jungle for the rest of the game some other guy buying all the wards and never placing them and just pinging "We need wards" when ever available. Hello frens, I played the game a bit back in 2016 i think and I never really managed to get into it so I'm trying now but I'm fucking awful. It feels like I'm fighting the game the entire way and I legit don't even know what I'm supposed to do half the time. I see ex pros say that the objectives dictate what you should be doing but compared to LoL there doesn't seem to be any objectives other than runes. Idk when to rotate from lanes early and can end up spending 15 min in lane in the blink of an eye which I would never do in LoL. The rest of the game is fine once I get past around the 20 minute mark but laning feels like another world, fighting other support in the trees over wards and camps I feel like I know what I'm supposed to do but I don't at the same time.

Anyway heres my pic of playtime (most from years ago probably only 5 hours recently) and what characters I can remember playing. What advice would you give, specifically around laning.

Then from there you have more power runes, the t2 towers, rosh, torm at 20, another shrine. Yeah in my games the thing basically never gets touched unless you actively try to get your team to take it. If you have a strong rosh lineup its a lot easier as you can take the rosh around 20 minutes and more easily convince your team to then go get the fresh torm. You should help with the 4, 6, and 8 minute runes basically every time as position 4. As position 5 its tricky, its better to just not leave the lane early.

nta, I'm a longtime League player, been playing since season 3 I think and I've been hitting Master every season for a while now. But the game has been steadily getting worse with every season, I've been playing less and less and I've finally quit League for good this year.

I've moved over to Dota, got almost 1k hours and I'm close to hitting Legend right now. The beginning of transition was painful, there is jungle you can farm but you dont know when to, there is a lot of invisibility which you need some gamesense for, no going b to base, illusions, a lot of point and click stuns which last much longer than league and many more.
Sometimes I thought that I maybe the game isn't for me and I had some breaks from playing it. But after some time it just clicked and I started spamming the game just like I used to spam League when I was learning it. It's an amazing game and honestly I'm sad that I wasn't playing it instead of League all along but League is more popular in my country.

So, I must say, the most fun I've probably had in this game, was running full Support Omni Knight, giving heals, resistance, barrier. We still lost, but our carry definitely couldn't have gotten at least one kill at the very end without that support (They were at 1 HP before I stepped in)

Other than that I sit well above 50%.
At your rank it seems like clown fiesta with acc buyers, also people with "grief identity" like Dota Sama or Clackson. That's not really forced 50%, also, you're inevitably going to lose games.
I probably don't even need to tell you because there's no way you reached the MMR you did by focusing on other people's gameplay and malding over losses. Maybe externally you do but internally you've always been focused more on looking at your gameplay.

NTA but I think it is only bad for certain spells. Chrono would be the most extreme example of a spell you should never quickcast. Wards are another one. Anything where the AoE of the spell itself is like really important you're probably better off with the cast indicator. I switched over to quickcast recently having played this game + hon + league + dota 1 since like 2008 and it was really jarring at first. The most immediate benefit is blink dagger. Just from testing in demo, I can blink out of stuff with 100% consistency now whereas trying with regular cast its like 75% stuff. Stuff like blinking after dig or cold embrace wearing off.

DOTA is less centered around quick clutch moves. AKA there is most of the time no need for you to quickcast an ability out of your ass in a specific moment. I have figured out why some heroes feel not playable for me (anymore, as I rank up). Like OD, even though I did very well with him.
On non pos 1, you can only play heroes that have big power spikes on the first item.
Like Leshrac, blink. That allows you to play the entire game and chase around the map. While I get fucking Witchblade on OD, even later, that allows me to do little. I need several items to rape everyone. But he isn't the only example.
This seems to be true for every role. You can't pick a farming offlane/mid if you want to win many games. You play retard heroes that powerspike with an item like blink and win the game.

Because my games often completely collapse on the sidelanes and clown fiesta ensues. There is no space to get 2-3 items. You need to be able to play the game asap.

I'm moreso talking about 90% of this games players who all chat things like "im bored g end" after they/someone dies on their team, or afk enemies safe jungle while waiting for the game, or any other asocial behavior that has been normalized in this game.

if that bothers you so much then dont rely on match making for team mates
