The problem is rune though.
Sword is one of the only classes that has a chance to beat rune so everyone plays sword>rune killed portal from the ladder so nobody plays portal anymore because it's fucking trash>portal is the only class that can deal with sword board vomit but there's no portal players>sword players grow even more.
It's just the natural concept of the food chain, rune is eating everyone so people fled to sword because sword eats rune when sword gets lucky and sword lost his natural predator since it's impossible for portal to beat rune.
If rune was weaker portal would be played again and that would naturally decrease the number of swords

I played the Final Fantasy 14 alpha way back, the v1 alpha. There were people like you on the forums that had that same mindset where anyone that said anything negative about the game were being overly negative for no reason.
