Do I care about getting double circle affinity if I'm trying to breed a 9*?

What does affinity even do? Does it increase chance for sparks to activate or is it just the golden inspiration chance?

Because higher spark chance to activate would make more skills which would mean more sparks for a 9* parent, but you can't get double circle affinity so easily unless you have a ton of various 3*s which I don't.
