You need cards and refine for defense, if you're not using the correct reductions then expect to get melted by any strong enemy.

Not really, get a weapon with 4 slots like a Katana if you're using 2h swords, refine it to +10 and slot it with 3 anti-racial 1 anti-element / 3 anti-racial 1-anti size then bowling bash your way to victory, works even with relatively low agi as long as you drink a berserk potion and use 2h quicken.

Same for 1h spears, get a pike [4], refine, and do the same thing, but it will be slower since no 2h quicken to rely on and worse aspd modifier.

Extra points if you combine them with a proper element endow.

They literally heal more the more Vit you have (2% more per point), and particularly Knights get more out of them from Increased HP Recovery (200% efficiency at lvl 10).

The last few days have been noticeably slower. Im actually looking up what im missing and decide to hunt for exact cards instead of just going wherever and killing stuff.
Notable Cards were the weird desert bird mvp on 2nd try, Eddga on 2nd try and Goblin Leader first try.
Did big peco farming for VERY long only to kill a single stray Wildrose and get the card, only to farm for much longer again for the card.
Today got Wood Golem in like 150 kills and did Wootan Shooter after.
At around 100 kills i missclick a single Wood Golem only to get a repeat card and having to kill another 100 before card.
Farmed yesterday for a Cardo and another hour today but no luck.
After that went to farming Venomous. One map - 10 spawns every 5 minutes. Very tiresome.

As the other Knight that was asking about Bowling Bash the other day, I'm wondering how decent my stat spread is now.
I dropped AGI/Flee entirely and went for more VIT and DEF. I just threw on an old 2x Zipper Bear Excalibur I used on Crusader and Vali's/Vidar's as some place holder gear for now.
Using Bowling Bash has been a lot more fun and effective than auto-attacking so far. But I was wondering, does ASPD effect skill usage at all, or is it for auto-attacks only?

The Stat spread is almost fine, you ideally always want to end your Str and Dex on multiples of 10 (so it should be either 68 + 12 or 78 + 12 Str and 45 + 5 Dex) since those have a bonus, though I'm not sure how to feel about your Hit, it seems really low, I guess this pic is without buffs active.

ASPD does affect it, so you still want to use a berserk potion and if you're not fighting anything super strong, a 2h-sword for 2-hand Quicken (or get a Soul Linker friend to give you Knight Link for 1-hand Quicken).

Your Defense is looking good, Magni Odin set is great, as for your weapon you may want to switch that excalibur for a different weapon because the Zipper Bears don't benefit you as much as other cards could, they also should be draining your SP super fast since you're hitting multiple targets twice each (which is probably why you're running so much Int).
You also can stack the Snowier clip to get double healing out of the Ice Creams and keep the Creamy clip on your hotbar as a quick switch unless you're teleporting non-stop.

I've been mistakenly thinking that the SP drain on the Zipper Bears were only on auto attacks. I guess that explains why my SP runs out faster than it should.
I'll try to see if I can get another 1-handed weapon to replace it with so I can continue using a shield. I'm on Ragnav, so I always have 1-handed quicken at least.

I had a late start on the Ragnarok Rebuild(doddler's) test server today. I'm quite impressed by it. It's still quite rough but, even in its current state, it's a very playable Ragnarok server. No lags, either. No desyncs that I could notice.
However, I've been rather blindsided by this release. I did not think it would coincide so perfectly with the Ragna/v/ 3 anniversary.

On the other hand, it's not a secret that player attendance on the server has been slowing down. Up until now, whenever I logged into the server, I'd always spot at least a couple of people actively playing, no matter the time of day. But over the last week, there have been instances where I'd come to do my regular patrols on the server and find that nobody was moving. Meaning, only AFKers were connected. This is one of the signs that things are coming to an end.

As you know, I've promised that I'd keep the server running up until people stop playing. But it's not quite fair for me to declare that to be case right now because I know that quite a few of our regulars are on doddler's test server. His server ends on the 18th, which is 2 days after our anniversary. After that date, should the situation not improve, it's possible that I might make the call to set a closure date.
I don't think it'll be the case, considering we still get quite a few people during busy hours, but nonetheless the situation is what it is.

On the 16th, I'll be hosting an event in-game, so look forward to it. I'll be more generous with rewards than usual.

Doddler's client looks very robust but he's nowhere near having a complete, deployable product. Ok Dev, let's have a serious talk. Why do you want to close the server? Is it because you can no longer afford to pay for hosting or is it because it's too much of a hassle to keep it running?

If it's the latter, why not take a long break? If you're feeling stressed then you cannot make good decisions. Yes, pulling the plug will give you a short term relief, but in the long run you stand to lose more, you still have a loyal fanbase and new players.
Right now ragna/v3/ is in a very good position, ccRO is almost done for, myRO has completely disappeared from /rog/ and no other server offers the great QoL changes and customizations your server has.
In other words, you're still winning!

So pulling the trigger and ending it all doesnt make much sense, specially because this is your most successful server so far. Ending it all at this stage would only destroy the goodwill and good faith your loyal fanbased has put towards you.

So my suggestion is: If you're tired of all this shit, take a break, leave the server as it is, let people have their share of fun, and think things through. Do NOT make a bad decision now.

I don't WANT to close the server. I'm just saying that something fundamentally changed. That is, up until now, every time I checked, there would be people playing. But recently, during a few of my patrols, I found only AFK players and nobody moving. Something that I hadn't spotted up until now. At all. This week was the first time I couldn't find a single player moving during a couple of my regular checks.

Having that happen during dead hours is no big deal, I know people are still doing stuff during the day. But you guys deserve to know that I'm starting to spot gaps where nobody is active. I'm giving you disclosure.

If and when we get to a point where I start spotting those 'no active players' gaps during busy day hours, on sequential days, then that will be a clear sign that the time has come. Until then, the server goes on.
And of course, we're undergoing an atypical period, so I'm not making deep judgements over this change.

BLACKSMITH BUFFS PROPOSAL PART 1

Since blacksmiths are still shit after 2 months and niggerdev has barely done anything to help them I made this proposal to at least start the discussion. The following changes most probably retarded but I tried to take a FUN (tm) approach while trying to buff them to a knight level (imposible lmao) without actually touching production skills because I've never used them and would rather have someone who actually knows what they're talking about write a proposal about them.

>Weapon Perfection/Overthrust/Adrenaline Rush
They're fine, but consider giving them a longer duration for QoL (around 5 minutes sounds fine) since they usually run out mid fight when doing high level PvM if you don't actively spam them (much to your party's annoyance) before and after every single encounter.

>Adrenaline rush/full adrenaline rush
Consider giving it endure effect for the duration, maybe even make it partywide to make it a bit more worthwhile bringing a blacksmith into parties because most of the time they'll sit behind everyone and maybe offtank a stray mob or two while the knight/crusa and ranged dps actually do the real work (and lorewise I like the idea of having a ridicuously adrenalinic blacksmith making everyone neurotic so they don't care about being hit).

>Weaponry Research
It's a pretty okay skill, but 10 levels is A LOT on an already points starved class and you're forced to take at least a few levels if you want any of the good buffs, should consider taking it down to 5 levels max like other similar passive skills.

>Skin Tempering
While well meaning the changes to this skill aren't actually a buff because why would anyone waste 5 skill points you don't even have to get a little more resists, it should've stayed as 5 levels max with added functionality or better yet, you could port down Fire/Earth Research from renewal for an actual buff, just have it require Skin Tempering 5 to unlock and you're done.

It's great I love it best QoL skill in the game please consider letting blacksmiths use it so we have less 18-40 male suicides.

Blacksmiths tend to just stand around when party MvPing because going in would be retarded and most of the time the party doesn't need an offtank when either Hwiz kills and freezes the MvP adds, the party kills the extra adds and just tanks the others, or the place is cleaned before engaging the MvP so nothing happens for the duration. With Axe Boomerang blacksmiths would finally have a way to do SOME damage in those kind of party situations where people would've rather taken an actually good class instead (always)

>Power Swing
A much shittier version of Cart Termination, it doesn't use zeny but has a fixed cast time and delay so the DPS is A LOT worse, could help when solo grinding shit mobs or in places that aren't densely packed, elsewhere it'll always come back to Cart Termination for any kind of real gaming (tm). (PLEASE DOWNPORT THIS I NEED TO STOP LOSING CASH WHEN PARTYING IM GOING INSANE)

Alchemists isn't bad per se, but what they needed was to be less boring, self-sufficient and have less of a money sink loop (not a buff, it was something they already could do before dev removed their homunculus).

They need homunculus and fixing the plants to be less annoying to yourself / unkillable so they can be used in party. After playing CCRo I realized that OC / DC really makes a huge difference into the gameplay loop of buying potions for active use, but that can be helped by giving them multi-potion crafting results, which they do for bombs but not for pots for some reason.
If the class would've get nerfed as a compensation it doesn't matter, because at least they'll be fun.
There's a reason all the Alchemists quit and the only one left plays in a bubble.

Dev did talk to me and did make changes to Mammo cost, because on launch it was completely untenable with the loss of OC/DC. You would literally lose zeny killing hill winds before the 1st change.

That being said I did eventually quit before any of the other buffs because I didn't feel like farming Mavka for 2 hours every time I wanted to be useful in a party.

Also not trying to shit on Ragnadev, but my 2c on the later buffs were that Whitesmith really didn't need a power increase (Tomahawk Throw was nice though, I suppose). Whitesmith has always been pretty decent as long as you had zeny to throw at stuff. The issue was the economy of it. Without OC/DC or substantial changes to Mammo/CT cost, the class just isn't worth playing.

Burning 2-3mil zeny in a party when I can make it back in 30 minutes on a normal server isn't a big deal. That 30 minutes increasing to 1~2 hours because no OC/DC makes it 100x more obnoxious to play a job that's already annoying to play for other reasons. I'd be spending more time farming to party than partying, and that tipped the scales for me.

Making the job that's already generally unfun to play even more unfun to play was not the way to handle it, though I get dev's frustration with OC/DC. I just don't know why he didn't see the need to adjust mammo/CT costs with it in a substantial way.

I personally will be coming back to ragna/v/ once I'm finished with ccro, which I started late on. I'm at about 350 cards in and I've reached the meme build potential for the classes that I decided to play, so I think I have maybe a week left in me. It's been fun playing a different server though, especially one with so many custom changes. Things are going to feel weird gameplay wise going back, but I think the QoL and class changes from v3 are ultimately better that cc's.
That being said, it might be a good time to morph the server into something different. Most of the old players have basically everything already, and drip feeding content can only keep people playing for so long. It may be healthy for the server to enter a "testing ground" phase, where we (both you the dev and us the players) test out class and mechanic changes that will then lay the groundwork for the eventual v4. To make it easy, you can definitely pilfer some ideas from cc. I experienced many things that, with a bit of tweaking, could suit a server like v3/4 perfectly well. Mainly we just need new stuff to do. Even if it's for the same content, trying new builds and new mechanics can inject the flavor back into an otherwise stale experience.

tldr: We're bored so let's turn v3 into a test server.

ccro handled some class balance features well, like giving thief the chance to chain steal, which gives rogue a chance to shine because gank suddenly becomes more feasible than spamming the steal skill manually on a sin. So I'm playing a rogue on CCRO like I mentioned earlier in the thread, and I've been reflecting on my decision to play this class. I am having a hard time understanding how I could possibly get a lot of the late game cards, since the class is so weak in pve. Sure I can outflee many enemies with the right gear, but my single target damage will be at best passable, and every map will mob me. I feel like I can probably get at best 182 aspd or so. With the high defense of most late game monsters, I'll just be hitting double attacks for 500 or something even with elemental converters. I feel like most MVPs will just be impossible. At this point I feel like playing a knight might be a better choice.

There's like 10 ice picks in pool. A couple bought their own, some were in gs at one point but people pocketed them, others just kept them when they dropped because no loot distribution rules have been discussed. So for the most part, rng decides and if people don't need what they get, they hopefully give it away or put it into gs.

You can likely borrow one if you ask. Eremes is easy to deal with too and a 100% drop, so you can pay 100 coins to spawn him and get some help with the kill to get your own that way too.
