It's simple though, generically good characters are usually not NEEDed by a single character. Lupa will help basically any future fusion character so she doesn't need to overly buff one specific character, and same with Iuno being good for any heavy attacker. I prefer characters that can be used in many situations rather than one that is strong but has nowhere to go.

You should check the permanent events tab as well. The number that people keep touting is 300 pulls for noobs. I'm not sure if that's assuming 100% exploration, but doing all the quests and events should at least get you a couple pities.
And exploration in Rinascita is a lot easier and faster since you can fly there and points of interest are all marked on the map.

Most of the companion quests and msq past 1.0 are worth doing. Even if you don't like the pacing, you can always skip a little, but generally most of the companion quests/msq are framed almost like movies so its never a completely text-based 8 hour slog fest.

You don't need a guide for it, it's very brainless and everything is listed on the map. Just fly around and go do stuff that's marked on the map.

For huanglong (and in general) you have the lootmapper you get from the pioneer association after you explore 15% of the map or something like that. For rinascita the top left of the map shows a checklist of everything and tracks down (though if you use it right away you'll probably not engage much with the map outside of the main story and exploration quest, it's kinda of a skip button for exploration, which is always an option - though I use it once I'm already done with a regular exploration without tools).
