Quest continues to prove itself the worst Rance game.

In lore, he's too high level with strong magical capabilities himself.
In game mechanics, we don't get access to that type of debuff often, but I guess you can note the resistance stat in Rance X which to my recollection directly reduces the chance of a stat infliction hitting ; Fiend Kayblis is immune to sleep but not other things, and has a pretty fucking high resistance so you need to go overboard to even hit him.
Archfiend Kayblis is not immune to sleep but still has a high enough res that only Warg can put him to sleep.

Limited actions/time limits are literally the only thing that turns JRPGs into an actual game though. Personally I think the Alicesoft games that do that are still plenty easy without any pre-knowledge as well. Time limits tend to be generous and you get plenty of actions/methods to preserve actions as time goes on.

I once had a weird dream about Rance. I was playing Rance VI and was aware of the fact, but I was interacting with the dream from greenman's POV and could control all of his actions and dialogue. There were original characters like a blonde guy who was the strongest melee fighter in Zeth and also a Rance simp. Basically Rick. He fights with martial arts and was a mix of Onizuka, Heiwajima from Durarara, and Bruce Lee. His gimmick was to have a pathologic shit taste in everything, he liked gross food, the loudest music, the ugliest paintings, etc. The other character was an asian girl dressed as a ladybug who hated Rance and wanted him fired. Most of the dream is about her trying to #MeToo'd Rance and failing. Eventually her schemes are exposed, and Rance proceeds to punish her for her misdeeds. Before he could do anything, she uses a rape whistle that produces such an annoying sound that it stops Rance's libido. However, the rape whistle works as an aphrodisiac for the blond boy, who proceeds to assault the nearest person, which in this case was Rance. I'm straight btw.

If you want to justify why Kanami's fortune is letting Rance die and running away with a Zethan psycho, yes. Otherwise no. The solution to the Return Devil in III is very different from the one in 03. Also Rance never met Menado until KR (or completely forgot about minor characters in I).
