I think what happened was that Toby realized it was taking too long to make chapter 3 and 4 that he decided to make Pizzarina/ICE-E/ERAM a part of 3’s, 4’s, and 5’s storyline. By using Asgore and the Festival to make her main story debut.

And chapter 6 was then made to be the finale of the story. With chapter 7 being reworked as the ending that never ends.

So instead of the EGG events being the “oh, Papyrus is here, doing nothing again, find out where the EGG goes” he actually gets to speak with you in chapter 3 and do art therapy with you in chapter 4. So now the EGG events aren’t dumb fillers and you actually get the chance to know how he is like in Deltarune. Which should’ve been the original way of handling him in the first place.

Flower King and ICE-E were both present in chapter 3 and Asgore in general served a purpose of being an emotional penultimate boss before the finale in Undertale.
With Toby stuffing the three Mikes into chapter 4 (Gerson, Titan, Mike), Eram, Friend, and Asgore are most likely stuffed together in chapter 5 to condense the story a bit.

The way the world physically exists is one of my biggest problems with undertale because it undercuts the idea the underground is a horrible place to live. They dont have any of the downsides that should come with lacking a sun, they still live in what is objectively a pretty beautiful place with plenty of biome diversity, plants and trees are still very capable of growing, and outside one area that still has its own form of lighting you arent really at risky of walking into an area too dark to live in. Finally got burnt out of Elin even while RPing as Spamton.
What killed the fun was grinding casino coins via basketball, realizing the strat is the same everytime so I just ran a script but it wasn't fun just being AFK and I didn't feel any accomplishment.
I think it's a huge accomplishment that Undertale and Deltarune manages to be replayable and not boring or grindy. I thought I would hate replaying ch1 since I know the story beat-by-beat and I still think it's the weakest chapter but no it's still fun. I wish more RPGs had a similar battle system.
