The game is about valkyries of St. Freya. Naming them valkyries in the first place signaled that they had the full intention of keeping Honkai 3rd in its galgame niche until they saw Genshin's success with appealing to a broader demographic. Now, a serious question I don't really understand. Just in case: It's not ragebait.
Why is Elysia so popular?
I genuinely do not understand the reason. I played ER when it was released, at the beginning it was mystery, i did think Elysia was the 13th Herrscher we didn't know anything about but I didn't know her so much and she seemed to hide many things, not just that so she had an aura of mystery.
Then chapter 29 we get to know more about her and then dies in act 2 we get to know a bit more about her later then returns at the end of the arc, she has a date with Mei, says her goodbye to Mei, fights corruption and destroys the Elysian Realm with the Kevin Killer mk 666.
Her personality is not bad, she is flirty with eveyone and she is the typical character that loves everything, nothing really special but again, she is not a bad character, she is not a hateable character neither.
Her design, well my opinion is that it's not bad but I like more Elysia's 1st design than HoHE that everyone for some reason fall to their knees, it's likely that it is simply not my taste so it's okay.
So, why is she so popular? While she isn't a bad character I don't really get why is she so good in other people's eyes. The worst part comes when it's people who haven't even played the game and know nothing about Honkai Impact but they still love Elysia. This is the thing that surprised me the most and I don't understand why?
I know that most people are going to comment something like "Elysia is not that popular and she is going to flop" so I don't even know why i ask.
