Speaking as someone with experience, making such a drastic change to reprogram your entire server hosting environment (maybe requiring changing host providers) at launch is an extremely desperate move. I would think that the panic they must have felt at seeing it fall apart in real time, knowing they're unable to deliver their product, and having to tell it to 10k people must have been extremely gut wrenching.

They're amateurs, they need plenty of time.
Even if they launched tomorrow, they'd still need weeks to iron out all the bugs.

I think the long piece is the final boss room, with the long hallway at the bottom actually being the connecting piece with it to the rest of the raid map.
The natural cave formation is the entrance, yes, but once you enter you'd be in the big square room, the boss hallway directly in front (but locked).
The two paths to the left and right from the big square room would lead to two other square rooms comprising of the left and right wings of the raid.
This is clearly a 2 wings and the boss raid design.

I like a lot of what they've done, but the Classic dungeon overhauls are not one of them. They completely ruined Wailing Caverns and Deadmines isn't great either.
